We were told via ALPA it should result in nearly 3000 new hires by 2016.

Doesn't the aircraft also operate out of JFK? To Tel Aviv and Asia? Or is that down guaging this fall? You're also forgetting about charters.

All they need to do is flip the whiskey compass upside down and switch the toilet nozzles to circle the other way, and they can sell those 787s to anyone in the northern hemisphere.

Not really that accurate, really.

I've known him for a long time, too. He's a well spoken and mannered pilot. Not to mention his posts on the TA were some of the best written.
With a little help, anyone can write good fiction.

Let's not BS, you have criticized WAY more than just ALPA on multiple occasions.

How come we haven't seen you motivated and pushing for improvements in our own CBA? You've been there 5 1/2 years and the CPZ CBA is still not a good one. Where is the loyalty to your own pilot group? Have you run for office, volunteered to do committee work? Or is your preferred method of "pilot improvement" merely webboard related?

Get out of here and go DO something that improves the profession...... You'll gain a lot more respect among the "2/3 rocking chair lives" that you have denigrated(before you've even put on a Delta uniform).

Looking for wisdom on the use of a pay-back day...I have one PB day leftover from last month, and I'm looking for gouge on how best to use it. Can I drop a multi-day trip with it? Can I pick up over the same days? Etc., etc.

Thanks

Is that a reserve pay-back day we're talking about?
I don't think you can use it to drop regular line trips.
You can either use it as a reserve X day or add it to your vacation.

A reserve pilot who is eligible for an additional day(s)-off under Section 23 S. 11. 14. will:
a. take such day(s)-off in the current or a future bid period, by mutual agreement with Crew Scheduling, or
b. have such day(s) added to a current year vacation period(s), by mutual agreement with Vacation Planning, or
c. have such day(s) added to his earned vacation for the next vacation year, if not used in the current vacation year.

That's just a guess though. I'm not real sure of all the rules on PB days.

That's a good question! Probably have to call Curtis in the ALPA office or a CS supervisor on that. My guess is that if they let you drop a trip of any length, you would only get credit for what the PB day was worth on reserve. If you are on a regular line, your ability to drop anything mostly depends on coverage. You could just as easily do a PD for a trip on a regular line and then pick up something else. But again, it all depends on coverage.

Can't imagine the response from that.

Xtreme,

My favorite are the Regional guys who constantly complain about DAL Pilots for relaxing Scope over the years. While I agree our Scope relaxation has been disappointing there is plenty of blame to go around.

Lets put this in perspective. These are for the most part guys who took advantage of the DCI growth and got hired on with the regionals.

Now that they have their hours and are ready to move on to the majors outsourcing is bad and it is clearly the fault of "greedy" DAL Pilots "selling" Scope at every opportunity.

Here we have a "typical" DAL Pilot contemplating the latest Scope sale.

What is more selfish then the Regional Pilot who votes yes for outsourcing by taking the job in the first place and then as soon as he is ready to move to the majors bemoans the whole practice. Talk about raising the ladder behind you.
