this is true, if you call you need to mention one of the contractual reasons why you're unable and they can say nothing about it. as in "no childcare etc"

Just show them your avatar. Looks like your overdue for a breast feeding.

If I bid VD to a new category, and projected training ends up in a month with a commitment (let's say a wedding - not my own), is there a way to request that the training is not scheduled on certain days, or do I get what I get? I know for regular CQ I can bid "golden days". Just wondering if this applies for new category training too. Thanks!
The only way that I'm aware of is to have bid vacation during the time you need off. The AE system allows them incredible flexibility to send you to training whenever they want to. The new contract does allow us to hold on to awarded vacation for AE/VD/MD, whereas the old one only allowed that for an MD.

With that said, you can call the training planners and hope for some luck there as well. They might be able to work with you if you give them enough lead time.

Capricious, erratic, inconsistent, frivolous, injudicious, offhand, random, supercilious, unaccountable, wayward, discretionary,.... Pick your description! I think some schedulers sit back, look at availability, and ask, "who can I mess with today? Got to keep these whiners on their toes!"

My goal is to get a line and never be on reserve as a commuter again. I wouldn't mind at all if I lived in domicile, which we all know is a choice, right?

RAW has zero bearing on SC assignments. Seniority only has bearing when within the same Days of Availability. Then you have to look at SC buckets, & the seniority within those. So if they're in different Days of Availabilty buckets, they're seniority compared to your's is meaningless. It's one of the 'gotchas' with the new rules.

My understanding is they are waiting until after 8/14/12 to make the decision as the RMA peps can pull their request until that date.

Sorry if a re-post...this is what I envision the DAL FA hiring pool to be:

Thanks for the correction, I didn't read the fine print in the FAQ section.

"Q6. What happens after the end of the 30-day application period? Can I still revoke my application to participate in the Pilot RMA Program?

A6. Yes. There is a revocation period that will begin at 0001E on July 31, 2012 and end at 2359E on August 14, 2012. During the revocation period, you may revoke your submitted application only by using the online tool but, unlike during the application period, you may not apply or reapply during this time. Only eligible pilots who remain as applicants after the revocation period ends will be considered for participation in the Program."
Makes sense.
