Excellent farewell Carl. Your post count is positively surreal.

Here's hoping you come back and visit after a brief sabbatical.

I'm also ready to move on from all the contract angst... When does college football start?

It's really been a pleasure chatting with you good folks. From Denny and FIIGMO up in the northwest, to Buzz and Uncle Ferd in the southwest, to FTB and Clamp in the southeast, to Scambo and NewK in the northeast and everyone else in between, you guys are a really good bunch. I've learned a lot and laughed a helluva lot! End of cheerleading before somebody revokes my man card.

But since there's this persistent talk of another possible merger, I wanted to leave you with some strategy points regarding any seniority list integration. And I wanted to deliver them like my buddy FTB might do. So...if the airline we end up with is:

Alaska - Bros Before Eskimos

Hawaiian - Bubbas Before Bruddas

Air France:

Dogs Before Frogs

American - Van Admirals Before Admiral's Clubs

Republic - Widgets Before Midgets

And for anyone who doesn't want their a$$e$ kicked - "NewK Before Anyone"

I hope the very best for all of us, and that this contract works out well. I also hope that DAL88Driver and Orvil continue to be way smarter than me, Clamp gets to perform his first "magic carpet ride", acl gets to run the union someday, Boomer gets hired and Bucking Bar flies nothing but Boeings from here on out.

I'll come back to lurk when I can

Over and out.

Wait. Don't we get to try to talk you out of retirement before you go?

Think of all the underboob pics that will generate!

Don't go, bro!

(Quick. Someone post some underboob before he makes a rash decision. )

Hey Guys,

Completely off the subject of the TA.....I heard that we can "non-rev" on SWA. Is that the same thing as jumpseating? If not, how do we go about it? Plz send me a PM with some details. I'm flying right now but need to fly out to meet my family and drive them home.

Thanks guys.

But what's the smallest mainline jet they have?

They may have prevented the regionals from flying the 51-76 seaters, but they never got them at mainline either, did they?

So, we're not really arguing about who will fly them, just whether we'll let the regionals fly them.

Sort of. I jumpseat on them a lot to go to the mil gig and what you have to do is call reservations and list for the flight (as a non-rev) before you walk up to the counter and ask for the jumpseat. If there is a seat in the back, they will give it to you otherwise it's the jumpseat. But the key here is to list for the flight before you get to the gate, otherwise the gate agents get upset.

Do you list by calling their JS number? I can't find any other way.

And, how do you see the availability? By asking the res agent?

PM you the number. The res agent will 98% of the time tell you what the load is when you list, if not you can ask.

No way to see the availability other than looking at southwest.com and seeing if they are still selling tickets. If they are, you are generally in the back.

In general, I've found the rez agent won't volunteer the load info. So, I always end the call with, "how bad does it look" Most will laugh and tell ya then.......

Good luck, they are really good to work with

Ferd

PS Call them later in the evening (after 8ish), if you try during the day you will be on terminal hold
