You have ask yourself "why?".

Glad you were in on the negotiations, can you give us any more inside scoop ?

Finis;

With you I'm a-ok with agreeing to disagree.
Scambo, I am a-ok with it also, when people vote against the TA because they don't think it's good enough that's great, democracy in action. I do have a problem with agenda voters because a rejected TA does open up a window of opportunity for a group of wannabes.

Finis can you elaborate on that please? Not sure where you are going with this. Thanks Waves

Waves, If this TA is turned down do you think the negotiators or MEC will stay around ? Do you think DL will come right back to the table ( I don't,"talk to you in January") ? In the ensuing 3 years without a contract do you see a happy pilot group ? or do you see growing disunity ?. On the other hand if it passes and ALPA is right and there is hiring and growth do you agree that the drive to replace ALPA will wither on the vine ?
Most of the no voters on this board really believe this TA is not enough, however there are a few that only care about a power change. Done elaborating.

Lol. There are a lot of us that weren't even born until the 80's.

Don't worry bro. I'm right there with you. "Fifty is the new forty, or thirty, or something like that."

I now see what you are saying. You’re asking tough questions, but here goes. Actually I do think the MEC will remain, but I’ve heard a few people say that if a TA is turned down, the MEC is required to resign. I can’t say with certainty that this isn’t true, but I doubt it is. I also think it would be a bad idea. Starting over with a completely new negotiating crew would be completely idiotic.

Now if what we are being told is even half way correct, if the TA is downed, the window of opportunity for some of these deals for the company will expire. We line guys have no clue if they are true. We can only speculate. If they are true and the deals expire as advertised, as far as I can determine, the company would have no impetus to promptly return to the table. If they don’t see a positive gain from negotiating early, why would they even consider it? RJ deal a bust, 717’s gone, pilots asking for better everything. Management: “Hey lets drag this thing out until we have a better position.” I actually envision us without a contract for several years. If there isn’t a carrot for Management, why would they go there? Just look around. Management can drag this crap out for years if they want to. If the TA is downed and management drags this thing out for years, I will be all over the no voters like ugly on an ape. For some reason, guys on this thread seem to think, even though they have been told the complete opposite, the company will just jump right back with a counter offer much better than what this TA offers. Maybe they are right, but I’m not seeing it from my seat. Attack or eat crow. I will be willing to accept both. Are the no voters willing to do that?

I totally understand those trying to branch out and dump ALPA for our own personal union; however, we have been here before back in the early nineties and it JUST AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN. It’s a pipe dream. I think the drive to replace ALPA is dead before it gets started, albeit, I do certainly understand the push.

I haven’t been reading every single post in detail, but I haven’t really seen anyone specifically talking about the ALPA replacement issue. I think even the no voters think this thing will pass. I for one appreciate their honest assessments of the TA, but I also despise some of the intentionally misleading posts. There are plenty of those and there are plenty of single issue no voters as well.

Post getting too long. Stop!

OK guys, it’s time to stop picking on Carl. He is actually fighting hard for the new guys. Much harder than most in his seniority level. You junior guys should be kissing his toes. Ha Carl, I probably started this inappropriate/humorous barrage. Sorry my friend, I’m your same age and just jealous as to your position of which I have no chance of attaining. I’m as old as dirt too. Damn! I don’t always agree with you, but I will always respect your opinion my friend. Thanks Bud!
