I think people are confusing the two definitions of "MEC".

The Master Executive Committee should be setting the direction of the union.
The Master Executive Chairman should be executing that direction.

Not saying that it is happening now(that the roles are being muddled), I've only met the guy once and it wasn't in a "business" setting, but there are people complaining about that being a problem. Even if it's not to the degree that some might claim, if there is direction coming from the Chairman and the MEC is just "nodding and obeying" to major themes, then we do have a problem.

190 would be outstanding. Way more than most predicted. Any more would be a big benefit to us jr guys as far as f's and displacements. Is that number truth or the rumormill?

ROLL DAMN TIDE!!!

Great post!!! But then again, I would have expected that since you seem to be a member of Church of Nick Saban. There is nothing I love more than a little SEC trash talk!!! Well...maybe this message board!!! Oh by the way.....Bear Bryant is dead and he is not coming back and he has not been reincarnated in Nick Saban!!!

OK...back to the forum!!

I'd like to know the business school where those bankers went.
I know its a laughable story, but they're booked for the next month and I saw one report for the next 2-3 months. If only Delta could be so lucky.

They're filling a marketing niche. When I was in business school a professor would say "wheres the pain?" You could spot a lot of bad ideas by asking that question and determining whether there was any pain that needed to be addressed. Even the iphone addresses the pain of staying in touch and accessing the internet.

But the pain here is $100-$400 one-way fares for your pet, pets being thrown into cargo holds, pets dieing, pets not being allowed to be fly in the summer, pets being ignored, pets being lost (I know a college friend working the ramp at Delta who lost one) and some being barred from travel because their noses are too small and they're susciptible to dieing.

There $149 one-way and booked solid and there planes don't cost $70 million new, try $1.5M for a 1900C, and they're competition is charging a fortune and not $49 one-way.

Not a bad idea if you ask me, even if it sounds dumb but I've found that the least sexy businesses are the most profitable. I remember in my corporate pilot life hanging outside a GV that belonged to a guy who made office trailers.

As explained to me, the MEC Chairman ensured the Compass resolution was assigned to a small committee with members picked for their predisposition against the populist notion of unification (and therefore against even an economic study of the benefits), then the committee came back with their vetted recommendation NOT to study and the MEC voted on the committee's recommendation in acclimation.

If nothing else, it is my hope that the next election at least brings forth members to our MEC that have the cojones to represent their members and vote as they have been asked vote by their constituents.

The universal problem dictatorships is that their lack of representational legitimacy is realized by everyone but their little insular world of "yes men." Usually when they are pulled out of their spider hole they are the last to know that Bagdad Bob show wasn't real intelligence. So when the Company came with questions about the flow through and bringing Compass on board our association was, what, how would you phrase it?

Can anyone explain the turn around by some of the NWA Reps who were pretty adamant regarding Compass and who also were at one time asking for the same sort of preparations the Delta pilots in Council 44 resolved to obtain? What happened? Right, or wrong, the NWA guys had a reputation for taking a more grass roots approach to their representational obligations.

One reason for the lack of communication is that communication is a waste of time if you have nearly no interest in representation of anyone outside the privileged circle. Our MEC assumes they know best and apparently it is a correct assumption because we keep voting yes. It is hard to see it as anything other than the same representational malaise we see at a governmental level... gimme money, outsource our jobs ... . works great until unemployment hits unacceptable levels and the ponzi scheme collapses due to a failure of the foundation.

The problem with corrupt little dictatorships is that their lack of representational legitimacy is realized by everyone but their little insular world of "yes men." Usually when they are pulled out of their spider hole they are the last to know that Bagdad Bob wasn't real news.

One reason for the lack of communication is that communication is a waste of time when you don't care what your pilots think and have no inclination to represent them. ALPA has completely forgotten that it is a grass roots organization which depends on unifying pilots. Power is just "assumed" without being understood or appreciated.
Dude, as one who "gets it" I'm having a pitcher of White Russians in your honor
