A reserve is now full at "his" guarantee, not "the" guarantee. All known absences are figured into the guarantee calculation. For example, let's assume an ALV of 77+30, which would yield a reserve guarantee of 75+30. A pilot has one week of vacation during the month worth 22+45 under the TA.
(75+30)-(22+45)= 52+45 for "his" reserve guarantee. He would be full when he reached that. Today he can be flown all the way up to 75+30.
(75+30)-(22+45)= 52+45 for "his" reserve guarantee. He would be full when he reached that. Today he can be flown all the way up to 75+30.

I think current language requires you to fly a full month to be full (tng/vac not credited against it), and I guess new languages makes you full at guarantee minus tng/vac. Means you have to fly a lot less on Reserve between one and about five months per year, depending on how many recuurents fall in that year, and how you split your vacation.

Yeah, the guys that throw around the 300 job loss number don't look on the very next slide. Between increases in vacation and training pay, staffing formula changes, and reserve guarantee calculation there's a lot of staffing increases that they don't mention...go figure.

But also the requirement to staff more summer vacation weeks will very much lead to higher staffing as more guys will be taking a trip or two off during the peak flying. A small category that adds 1 slot each week over just one summer month will cause 98 credit hours of flying to be left uncovered, that is more than 1 Capt could cover, which at minimum causes the company to staff for 2 more Capt slots, (then double it for the FO seat too). Imagine in categories where they have to add 3-6 MORE slots each week during the summer! Staffing increases for everyone. We have almost 70 categories at Delta, that adds up to a lot more positions (if you agress with the "Delta staffs for Jul/Aug" theory)

In your example will scheduling be able to assign said pilot up to 67+45 with ALV+15? (52:45+15)

These vacation changes are great and very positive. IMO, that still does not make up for the other changes to the work rules.
