Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Thanks CVG!
If we can change the work rules and get that 45 up to 60, that's 15 hours on average per pilot per month.
Paper napkin math here so be warned...
But if I just do a snap shot of ATL 88 B, DTW 330 B, LAX 73N A and NYC 7ER A, it says on average 19% of our active seniority list is on reserve.
Using the 22D3 number of Nov 12 of 10,596 pilots x 19% you come out with around 2,026 pilots.
2,026 x 45 hours a month is 91,200 hours. As in the amount of flying done by reserve is 91,200 hours. Take 91,200 and divide it by 60 hours and come out with 1,519 pilots.
506 less than we have now, if you can get 45 to 60.
yeah.
You know how we could really get them to do more of their share? Cancel reserve pilots vacations. Make them fly. Also, more RES days and less X days. And no paybacks. And no ALV+15 limit. All of that should help get them to the 60 hours they were hired to do.
No you can't. The staffing formula is set at 60. If reserves aren't flying 60 hours today, then we are still overstaffed, because the formula would have swung the other way. What those 40 hour reserves need is more block time. The TA purportedly moves more block time to Delta and the reserve pilot might have to do the 60 hours they were hired to do. If they go over 60 hours, the formula adds more reserves. Except for the new language, the formula is pretty much unchanged. I think C2K had reserves at 55 and Express reserves at 65?

Occupational Medical Consultants (OMC) in Edina. I use a guy named Dr. Jetzer but they're all really good. Easy to schedule and pilot friendly.

Amusing language, isn't it? I don't know that pilots were ever hired to be Reserves. I was told we only hired Captains. Maybe Reserve Captains?
All kidding aside, most of all know what Reserve entails, but when I was hired a Reserve (30% of us, btw) was a person used to cover contingencies. Now they're an unscheduled lineholder. With the RAW buckets, it's marginal, but it's definitely not a perfect world. And I, for one, am sick of the bottom of any category, some who are quite senior, getting treated like red-headed step-children.
As an aside, I haven't looked back on our LOA's, but the Reserve daily guarantee is still :15 less than Lineholder, correct?
I don't think the average Reserve will actually look on the TA, in general, as making their life worse. But I still don't like this "60 hours they were hired to do". We were hired as professionals, to do a professional's job, in dignified conditions. It wasn't just me selling myself to Delta at the interview: it went the other way too.

Sailing,
Interesting topic - numbers close to what? Do any of these Regionals fly the RJs profitably without FFD? If essentially the DCI carriers are not actually operating profitably without being subsidized by mainline I don't see how an economic analysis would show anything other than it was not possible.
I agree that 76 seaters being flown at mainline probably cannot compete economically with 76 seaters being flown at a connection carrier. But I also believe that a standalone RJ operator flying 76 seaters cannot compete economically with 76 seaters at DCI.
If this were not true - where are all the standalone RJ operators?
DCI carriers are operating at below a standalone profitability - if you take away mainline support. Comparing 76 seaters at mainline (without mainline subsidies) is not a valid comparison.

Question. Do we have to fill out anything to get per diem during training or is it automatically done? Also, how do we account for going home over days off(per diem wise)? Non ATL based(conversion is July) until training is finished if that helps. Thanks
