You reminded me. Did anyone find the commuting policy in the TA? Is it now contractual?

I'm sure they said that but not to be at the expense of work rule changes that cost them the ability to bid a vacated spot because it does not need to be filled.

Heyas ACL,

Thanks, but the egos involved probably make that improbable.

The parallels to this and CRM/TEM are striking. The psychology is unmistakable.

This could be DALPA's finest hour. Swallowing some pride, taking heed, going back in and doing some badly needed cleanup and addressing the issues.

It could be a home run. DPA would evaporate overnight, and all Delta pilots would be unified.

Instead, this will be most likely left to fester. God Forbid that this thing passes, and you will have a large segement of your pilot group eternally ****ed, and the DPA grows stronger, ensuring our pilot group will NOT be unified for the next storm.

But yet no one can come clean and explain to me why the most qualified pilots in the Delta system were passed over for a fleet of 70 aircraft (because you know GD well the 717s are growth-neutral).
Explain. Someone. Please.
Well, unless someone else explains this, I will give it a shot. Delta Private Jets is a 135 charter operation. Delta does not own the jets, only operates them (kinda like DCI). The jets for the most part are owned by other entities that are just looking for a way to keep the jets busy when they are not using them. They come with pilots for the most part that work for the company that owns the jets. I'm not sure we want to be a part of that. JMO

Is this even in the realm of possibilities? Can ALPA take a TA that isn't fairing well with the pilots and simply pull it down and return to the table?

That would be a very interesting situation.

No change to the commuting policy in the PWA that has been in there since the merger.

Default Per Diem

I know it's a small item buried in the TA, but details do matter. Most legacy fall in the 2.00 range. SWA was 2.15.

Proposed Per Diem: 2.10/2.20 dom 2.60/2.70 intl.

Current Per Diem at FDX

Per Diem :
$2.15/hr (dom)
$2.95/hr (int'l)

Current Per Diem at UPS

Per Diem :
$2.40/hr (dom)
$3.05/hr (int'l)*
$3.55/hr (Pac Rim)*
$4.05/hr (Europe)*

*revised each January using formula (figures shown for 2012)

These new per diem rates are less than we received in 2000. But, I can't find those exact numbers.

Last time I looked, the cost of living had increased around the world. This is an item that should have been addressed and a better result should have be achieved. I bet RA doesn't have to eat ramen noodles when he travels.

One of many shortfalls in the proposed TA

You'd get to show those idiot pilots who the real boss is, and save on any pay raises for 3 more years. Why would they do this?

The answer is so obvious. THEY can't wait 36 months. Now that we know from slowplay that the opportunity was for them to get out of our CURRENT contract so they can do something about the 50 seat RJ situation that is killilng them, who has the NEED to do this as quickly as possible? Thus who has the leverage?

Please read the DTW LEC Chariman's letter where he clearly states that the timelines and deadlines were clearly artificial and set by the company. It all adds up to NEEDS for the company and LEVERAGE for us. I absolutely promise that if you vote YES on this, you'll feel like a Bernie Madoff victim in short order.

Take it from an old fart, I've seen this movie before.

No, YOU better have a plan that gets us what the pilots are asking for in their surveys if we vote this down. If you and your other "strategic thinkers" went into this with no plan B, let us know now so we can get some professionals to replace you.

Really man, you're not seriously saying that the MEC has no plan in the event the members utilize their rights to vote this down, are you?

You've spent WAY too much time around Moak. This sounds EXACTLY like him. But understand this: No alternate strategy and no plan B is also not a strategy.
