ATL Appartments close to airport
Does anyone know of any nice, intern priced housing close to DAL HQ in Atlanta? Potentially looking for furnished or short term housing too.

Its going to be hard to find anything decent near the airport, as its GHETTO CENTRAL! You can definetely save some money, but just make sure you know its not a very nice part of the city

If I were going to live near the airport. There are some really nice crash pads in College Park. That area has seen a lot of money put in to it in the last few years. Also, there are more than a few crash pads right behind the hotels on VA. ave. It allows you to take their transportation to and from work. Many have a nice deal worked out with the drivers.

ACL is right, there're several crashpads near the campus that has nice facilities. If you're looking for apartment, or room to rent, you'd do much better in Peachtree or Newnan, or Stockbridge, McDonough (The traffic from the south of airport is usually a bit better during rush hours).
If you're a young single guy or doesn't need to sit short reserve everyday, live in midtown, or the north side of town, i.e. Smyrna... They have much more civilized activities to keep you occupied, but traffic can be bad at times.

Anything that is reasonable in cost and still middle class is going to be hard to find near the airport. Go to Midtown, Briarcliff Rd.- Morningside Drive, or Vinings. Midtown is not cheap but QOL is good, and be advised it is a gay center for the South East. Areas near the airport are crime ridden, don't do it. Crime in Atlanta can be very heavy duty and this is where it happens. College Park is a township by the way, not a college, and it is pretty low class and crime ridden as well. If you do not have car, get the train route and see if there is anything at least as far as Midtown and start there. If you only need a room and have car, you can find good rooms for rent in Virginia Highlands by driving around at the right time of year. It will cost the same as small apartment, so don't be surprised if it's $600 or so. The low end of decent apartments in town is about $650 and you are talking tiny. I lived in Vinings recently for 3 years it's ok as far as crime goes, but you are going to do a long bus ride to the airport from there, and there's no train on the west side.

When I was in ATL for training as a new-hire, I stayed in a crash pad for $265 a month. Nice, clean place renovated and run by a Delta employee in the OCC, internet access, cable TV, nice kitchen. PM if you want details.
It was a 25 minute walk from the HQ and a easy 5 minute drive.

"If you're a young single guy"- Nope, young single girl(so skinimax isn't as much of a benefit). That being said, I definately want to be in a "female safe" area. There are going to be three interns and we'll probably all live together. I think were probably looking in the price range fo $800-$1100. I do have a car, but don't want much more than a 30 minute drive.
