People would bid the FO lines to actually fly the leg, it meant the RP lines went junior because they didn't fly. So, a junior FO could hold a more senior destination because there was no flying involved.

They seem to like it for knowing which break you are going to get, which makes sense.
But he said they never had had currency issues, which make it sound like they are flying. I could see if RP paid less or something like that, but if they paid the same, I'm not sure why anyone would care at this point in their career.

I think we are about the only airline in the US that does augmented ops that does not designate flying vs releif. TBH I wish we did for break planning.

Many pilots preferred to fly. I could not hold FCO, BUD, VCE ect as a FO. I could hold those as a RP. I bid the highest time trip available. Once they did away with the RP position I was back to low time trips or the universally hated 4 leg trips.
