Management gave a response to this on SkyHub a few hours ago. It wasn’t very good.

It sounds like they are assigning people 6 hour short call periods, but calling some guys during their SC periods and extending them to 9 hours. I looked in the contract and it seems like a grey area and a reinterpretation by the company yet again.

Awaiting ALPA guidance.

An “extension” sounds like SC assignment number 2.

“Multiple Short Call Periods in Succession
In order for a pilot to be awarded multiple short-call periods in succession, each short-call period must be
preceded by the FAR-required 10-hour rest prior to the start of short call. The Company may, at its discretion,
truncate a short-call period in order to accommodate a subsequent short-call period.”

Anybody who experiences this needs to submit a Not-ACE and email their rep.

they need to not respond and not report for any assignments is what they need to do. Contract negotiations start NOW. Contract and no more.

10 hrs is the FAR mins.

PWA says 18hrs unless you submit a YS (not YSIN) which can waive the 18 down to 10.

May want to be careful picking at this particular scab....

PWA allows for SC up to 12 hours. The "standard" 9-hour block is a relatively new construct (4-ish years, maybe??). The "new" 6-hour block is just that: new.

I can foresee a very simple response by the company if this is pursued by DALPA beyond some basic Q&A: All SCs revert to 12 hours; don't bother calling for early release, the answer is "no"....

That's fine, they already put in writing that the vast majority of short call duty periods become useless for most assignments in those last few hours.
