Before 18-hour LC, that was typically my experience while on RES. Now, when I check my category’s reserve list near the end of the month, it’s not uncommon to see multiple reserves with 5 or 6 SCs.

Before concluding that those were assigned against the pilots' wishes, it is important to check their yellow slips. Some guys want the $$$ assuming they won't get used.

One guy was posting on the FB about how many SCs he picks up. If you're into it, the money isn't bad since you get an extra 3 hours per SC over your limit.

It’s only an additional 2 hours for every SC over the limit (4.C.1.d.Ex 4 + 4.H.3). And for scheduling to award those, they must have brought every other available reserve up to the maximum SC limit, voluntarily and involuntarily.

There was a guy (NYC 765 I think) who got like 10 or more SC in a single bid period.

There does not appear to be a requirement for every other reserve to be full of SC obligation to be awarded additional SC. The "ladder" of SC awards/assignments is 23 S.1.f. It appears that people who volunter for SC and have been awarded such in prior PCS runs are coverted regardless of the status of other pilots. According to FB, at least one pilot does this successfully to earn 10-12 SC per month. Assuming his obligation is 6, then that's 4-6 additional hours on the reserve guarantee, and another 8-12 hours of pay/no credit.

Not related to reserve, but did anyone else read the latest NYC article on commuting? Talk about setting a antagonistic tone, thinly veiled threats, and reinterpreting past precedence:
But don't worry,
Getting an industry leading commute policy is a requirement on this next contract cycle.
Blah blah blah a few pilots were late on their commutes....It is difficult to explain the Delta Air Lines leadership at JFK why NPS is negatively impacted at times, by the company's highest paid employees...There is no FOM commute policy. FOM 3.4.1 is an UNABLE to Commute policy...Only following the FOM Unable to Commute policy does not comply with PWA 23.X.3.
No one has been disciplined for commuting issues stemming from this summer's operation. Please do not hesitate to stop by the offices to offer your suggestions on commuting.
