No one here is advocating for PS crashing meltdowns just to get a couple of free tickets.

Meltdowns are awful.

Why does Delta need to pay you for a AA flight to get home? Were all the jump seats taken on other airlines? I fly trips all the time that are back to back without 2 days off.

  • Delta has hired prominent attorney David Boies to pursue potential damages from CrowdStrike and Microsoft after a mass outage earlier this month, CNBC’s Phil Lebeau reported on Monday.
  • CrowdStrike shares were trading lower in extended trading.
  • The outages cost Delta an estimated $350 million to $500 million.

Looks like a lawsuit is forthcoming:

"Got to test the stuff you got"?

Not to be a complete pedant, but good lord.

One of the most pleasant parts of being a Delta Air Lines employee is that your neighbors and people you bump in to are complimentary of the product the company delivers.

We are in the middle of getting kids off to school and had people lined up to tell us their "Delta left me stranded... and Southwest / American / KLM / Emirates (not sure how)" got me home stories. Our reputation really took a punch in the face on this one.

I'm not expert in company comms, but our customers don't seem to be taking it as easily as our management is.

Guessing this ends up taking a significant chunk our our PS, even more as the DOT takes a cut. ... why is it when something terrible happens to an airline everyone from the executives to plaintiff attorneys line up with carpetbags? Pilots will get our reroute pay and whatnot. But, overall, we lost a ton of $$ and that doesn't seem to be an opportunity for a pay out.

And in a year or two SW/AA/whoever will strand them somewhere and they'll be ticked off and come back to Delta. And thus shall the cycle continue...

Those people are bad people then. Not a single one of them would accept being blamed for something their (insert major corporation) did. Your statement alone is how I know this is nothing but a small bump in the middle of a large highway. Southwest stranded tens of thousands of people OVER CHRISTMAS not more than 2 years ago. Like people were literally purchasing used vehicles to get home because rental cars were sold out. The fact that people were praising them for getting them home proves that memories are short and tempers fizzle. Sure, they can be frustrated. But what do they think a random pilot is going to do about it? Contact someone who actually cares.

Well, at our kids' schools, I've sponsored annual trips for the Little Lobowski Urban Achievers to see the Delta Flight Museum. Bunny Lebowski's toe going through the US Postal System has more influence than I do, but this debacle (mostly on paid Delta-One business trips) is the most exciting travel story they have to share.
