With the hit coming on PS you could have bought 6 positive space tickets. Plus totally useless for the people that got beat up for 4 days on min rest and don’t travel.

Executive bonuses will reign supreme. The recovery will be lauded by all c-suite residents as a true example of leadership. Profit sharing will be reduced by a measurable amount. The frontline employees will be gifted empty platitudes like always. Am I missing something? One thing that is certain along with death and taxes is that airlines in the USA will always suck something to do with shareholder value. Rest easy knowing that soon you can tell your new hire coworkers how you survived the great crowdstrike disaster of 2024 the same way people recall watching the moon landing on tv. The attention span of people these days allows for a short memory soon Boeing will have another conspicuous death or a wheel will fall off a 757 or someones emotional support dog will be suffocated in an overhead by an overzealous flight attendant. The show must go on folks. “No Soup for you”!

Maybe some people that are very close to retiring, but I have a hard time believing there is any significant number of people here who would never travel once in their off time during their career.

Since we are now fully recovered from the meltdown, I think it’s time to discuss what management should do to help compensate the frontline employees who got them through this meltdown. We faced furious passengers, sat around at airports, paid for hotel rooms out of pocket, and much more so I don’t think expecting compensation for that is unreasonable. Here’s what I think our compensation should include:
1. accountability for the meltdown from management and a commitment to modernize our IT. This is #1 for me. Constantly trying to blame Crowdstrike is unacceptable in my opinion. Other airlines recovered immediately. We didn’t. I think IT is the reason why and we need to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
2. write off the expense of the meltdown as a 1 time write off so it doesn’t factor into our profit sharing. It’s not our fault this meltdown occurred and our profit sharing shouldn’t suffer because of it.
3. Positive space tickets. I think 2 round trip tickets or 4 one way tickets would be acceptable.
anything I’m missing?

I doubt the people who go out of their way to make an reddit account to post on the r/delta sub are representative of the average delta passenger. Not sure if you were out there last week, but I caught a lot more nasty looks than"heartfelt thank yous" from the people who'd been ******ed over by Delta. But maybe you're right, maybe they'll celebrate with us when we get free tickets anywhere in the world delta flys.

I was out there for the first few days and then again after things had mostly cleared up. I was surprised at how chill and nice our passengers were with the entire situation. Even the gate agents I talked to said they expected it to be much worse and that many were gracious. I know there we had plenty of enraged (rightfully so) pax, but for the most part, people seemed to have the mindset that crap happens.

I don't remember the specifics, but over here at SWA we had a "Gratitude pay" MOU that paid us 150% for all regular trips flown during and the month after our Xmas meltdown and 200% for extra trips picked up from the company.
