100%

Zero rules unless you become unreliable (has been defined as missing 3 trips in a 12 month lookback) then you need to use the current rules for a year. Also, if you don't make it, you lose all pay for that trip.

So if I understand this correctly we had a previous PSC commute policy because of the canceling of flights and now we have another PSC commute policy (that differs) because of the cancelling of flights?
A bit reminiscent of the whole SB jacket thing......

Yeah, it’s buried in the FOP weekly update for July 24th. Up to that point it wasn’t mentioned in any COU out there, or anywhere else I can find. So they changed the game mid-stream, because previous PS commuting guidelines never included a backup.

the reality is there was confusion across the board. I’m fine with 2 flights with my frequency (typically 1-2 hours between flights) so an extra flight just gives me some time to grab some food or look at the memos I’ve missed. I could see how a different frequency of 3-4+ hours between flights is a different animal. Having 2 policies also is odd to me, but it is what it is and has been since I showed up in 2017. The PSC overall is huge for QOL and I’d love to see it stick around. I’d be interested to see how sick calls and UTC would change with PSC in a normal time. Comparing during COVID to normal ops leaves many big differences that skew the data.

Not negotiating in public to say crewmembers like pos space. I’ve heard the argument for the in base folks about it not being fair, but then hearing of GS 3-5 for the short notice trips that a commuter can’t make makes me wonder if I’m weird for liking salmon for my breakfast crew meal while others think it’s horrible. It’s all choices to make, but it’s nice when those choices have positives in both directions.

Well I didn't have a backup for my commute yesterday as I assumed the policy was the same as the previous PSC policy.
Living on the edge.....
