34% cancellation yesterday
I sat short call most of Friday and Saturday with no assignment. There really wasn't even an uptick in reserve assignments, VAS/GSs. Maybe there's more to it, but I think the operation was so shattered that schedulers didn't know where to begin picking up the pieces or have working systems to execute with. The traveling public seemed frustrated, but overall pretty resigned to the situation since it affected companies everywhere. My mind toggled between "Shouldn't we being doing something?", and "There's nothing I can possibly do. I'm along for the ride." Either way, it'll happen again sometime too soon and we'll have similiar discussions and criticism.

Not really. AA cancelled 1% of their operation yesterday. Southwest canceled 1 FLIGHT. We cancelled 34% of our entire schedule with close to half delayed, most by many hours. 80%+ of our operation in shambles. UA is struggling some but not to the degree we are. Friday was out of our control. Saturday and now Sunday and soon to be Monday is a Delta issue.

Neither can any of the passengers stuck with me. Patients are being tested for sure. Flights delayed or cancelled due to no crews. It is complete incompetence on all fronts. If you can avoid going to an airport today it would probably keep you sane. Might want to think about driving to work if you live within 5 hours. People are getting drunk and fed up, it's going to get interesting in an hour or so. Good luck
Forgot to mention, UAL, LUV and AA are all running flights close to on time at the same airport I'm at that Delta can't run one flight .

Yep..and the silence from management is deafening. They need a complete shut down and restart like SWA had to do w yea or two ago.

the complete shutdown/restart lesson gets relearned every few years. I remember one meltdown that JetBlue did it and they were the envy of the other carriers. Fast forward a year and the next meltdown most carriers did it and recovered quickly. Now it seems we have forgotten that lesson

Here is a dumb question/solution to fix being unable to get a hold of tracking. Why can’t crews just show up if qualified, have dispatch amend the release to throw the new crew on it, then FLY? If you personally know the crew is good for it FAR 117 wise why not just fly the trip?

Damn right…

Pay me 300% and I’ll be in my commuter airport ready to pick a plane that needs a pilot. But for that to happen it has to be PWA compliant.

Im all for help, but my time card is already screwed up, that I won’t see that money in my next pay check.

This is a management issue. They have to…

…manage.
