You have to remember that the people he talks to are either retired, getting ready to retire, out of touch with the union for almost 8 years or went straight to management when they were ejected from union work. The news is about as current as a 2007 edition of the Widget.
This isn't the Delta that he remembers, and hasn't been for at least 15 years. By some miracle that anything told to him is current, it is just a way for someone to put it out to the internet without their fingerprints on it.
Probably still on Austin's email list, though, where they shake their fist at the sky and complain about how bad the new contract is because they didn't think of it.

Guys like Sailing paved the way. I'm willing to give him slack.
I wish I knew how to embed a video, the link will have to do.

in the video Roy Batty is Sailing
Rick Deckard is anyone hired 2014 and after

Management is definitely watching this behavior.
I fear that collectively we have quickly forgotten the lessons learned over the last decade and a half. I really hope I am wrong, but the new blood around here may unknowingly stumble into another decade of naive "proactive engagement" if they are not careful.

The pendulum is swinging back to the path of least resistance from DALPA. I sure hope better unionists are elected in ATL and SLC this fall.

It’s already here. Have you read the MEC chairman’s interviews relating to the irop? Kissing the CEO’s ass, basically reading management’s talking points. This guy was elected almost exclusively by “new blood” reps with zero perspective and zero appreciation for the dangers of “constructive engagement.”

I have no idea about the credibility of this article, but it shares some interesting insight into airline losses due to crowdstrike SNAFU. It is estimated that industry losses will total over $800 million with a company average loss of over $140 million. I would assume delta probably makes up a huge chunk of that 800 million. It is also interesting that they estimate insurance to only cover 10-20% of total losses across all industries.
