Now if we could just get Gate Keeper back up and running properly that would help the ATL operation immensely.

Tactical cancellations are being used, the "restore" on our tracking/scheduling system is moving along. Data is being repopulated as wherabouts are being fed to it. That open time thing Trip: It's more a less a pseudo attempt at a "reset" (see tactical cancellations) - which was suggested many times on saturday & sunday. But comms from the IT crowd seem to be frustrating - overpromise, under deliver - decisions need to be made, which require truthful and open answers. Many are working hard in OCC and throughout the operation to get us back on step. I hope the DOT coming in will rattle some cages and perhaps we finally get some reliable solutions (crew comms to/from mecca, we're looking at you - again). The depth and breadth of this restore process of our servers and computers (down to the individual gate/ticket agent) were a herculean effort. I didn't mean to totally besmerch the IT folks with my comment above. The IT folks in the field taking care of business have done an outstanding job and have been putting in long days to get things back up.

Our maintenance Marines were always outstanding. And more so as soon as you realized and excepted one thing. Any time estimate given by maintenance, reality was 2-3 x’s longer. Apply as you see fit….

Today we're sitting at about 500 cancellations and over 1,000 delays. My guess is that we'll end the day with 700-800 cancellations and still over 1,500 delays.

Reimburse hotel
On a trip and no hotel booked at my DTW layover. I contacted crew tracking via ACARS 6 hours prior to landing and still no hotel when I landed, so I booked it myself. Is there a cap on what will be reimbursed? Short DTW layover is over $600.

Is it clear because there is no flying or clear because they are so far behind they haven’t been able to put trips in Open Time? At this point it is hard to tell what is going on but it does seem better. They better get this fixed by the weekend. Thank god for all the political news this week….
