Saturday, as we waited 6 hours for a replacement FA that never materialized, I told the FO that we'll be lucky if this is fixed by next Saturday. I leave on another trip in a few days, I fully expect my trip to be jacked up. Not sure how many of these meltdowns you've expereinced here, but it takes a while to get the train back on the rails.

Not excited about it all. It's just satire about the pathetic situation going on and the faith we HAD in folks running the operation that were supposedly the "best" . Now Delta/Endeavor , Republic , etc. are getting torched daily by the roaches in the news media.

Don't worry, the news will forget all about this in a few weeks.

The customers won't forget quite that fast. Delta was the airline that proved that people will pay more for a great operation. If Delta loses their yield advantage things get a bit ugly. We have also tied pricing on corporate contracts to performance. It's likely we will be writing serious rebate checks at the end of the year.

Then the next meltdown will happen, and we'll be in the same place.

I don't disagree that it's going to cost us big. I'm not completely discounting that it's going to hurt, but I'd wager that many realize this is just a blip. How many have come back after being screwed over in the any one of the major meltdowns in the last decade? Heck my GF son had to drop an additional $1k to get it Italy a few days ago and he still says he'll fly Delta because he knows it's this isn't the norm. I'm not a "rest on our laurels" type, but I also don't see this as the end of the world like some appear to think. This feels like any one of the previous meltdowns we've experienced.

this is my fear. The only way to get passengers back will be to have a fire sale. Yields will be down for years.

This won’t be the end for us, but it does further reinforce that our competitors’ products are much closer to ours than many like to believe. There’s been a noticeable decline in our cabin service post-Covid, relative to the competition. Pair that with a decline in reliability, and we’ve lost our edge.
The PR machine and brand hype can only carry us so far. Management has become complacent toward the core aspects of running an airline.

They just need to shut everything down for 24-48 hours. If you’re not on a trip stay off the airwaves. Find out where everyone is thats out on the line and then put them in rest at location. 24 hours to rebuild to 50%…48 hours to ops normal.
i did (not) stay at a holiday inn last night
They should have done this Saturday night as soon as they realized that folks are not where icrew thinks they are. Its over at that point. Might as well take the loss and reset.
