That is the broken part. When the company invokes PS due to IROP, pilots and FAs should not have to work thru CS or PA to book a seat. That piece needs to be removed for situations when management gives PS out due to IROP. That extra step for our pilots and FAs to work thru is causing many missed commutes as the response time back is very very slow if non existent.
Need more pilot bases.

That's not the solution they are looking at. A simple rules change to permit commuters to NOT have to get in contact with CS or PA to book a seat on a capacity flight is an easy fix.

DOT has declared this a "controllable" incident, which means air lines are on the hook.

I fail to see how they concluded this when the issue was buggy software update from Crowd strike that was the causal factor. The updates are automatically pushed with no testing done prior to their deployment. That's a huge foul. We've got thousands of affected computers and servers that have required a lengthy manual reboot process to un f#@$& this mess they (crowd strike) is responsible for.

this has been specifically addressed on SkyHub by “leadership.”

This is such an embarressment. There's no other way to describe it. Have you guys checked out Reddit? Not only is Delta getting torched left and right but there's videos of Atlanta and someone should honestly send in the Red Cross.
Just like if there is a pilot or FA strike looming , why doesn't the FAA or government step in with technical and personnel assistance. I'm not a big fan of current administration or have a lot of faith in them but gee wiz, someone needs to do something. Wasn't there investigations and oversight into Southwest ? Obviously that was a bigger deal but.....

Personally, i'm not in favor of more government involvement of this kind. I would be in favor of financial penalties for individuals at the top of the helm tho. It's too easy to give Delta a $100 million fine or whatever the amount. How about giving Ed a fine to him personally for negligence?

This has happened before and will happen again. It happens to every single airline. Southwest year and a half ago over holidays, Jetblue’s Valentine’s day massacre, etc.

The problem is never fixed while they tell us next time will be different. It never is. This one is unique because it’s taking so long to recover from.

bro, you’re an [mod edit]. The chief pilot office in ATL made an announcement over the loud speaker that if you are willing to fly, come into the office. They’re asking for volunteers to go fly, it’s that bad. The coverage ladder is out the window with this. GA about to call in the national guard to airlift people out of ATL 😂… that’s how awful Delta is doing.

But to each their own. I’m done with you all on this conversation. See what you want to see.
