As of this writing 3,690 cancels since Friday including 173 for tomorrow (and rising). Pathetic.

Yikes.

Would not want to be the head of Delta IT.

They could fix this with better automation, but who are we kidding. If you’re in charge of making decisions that could cost the company thousands, or maybe tens of thousands of dollars in direct payroll costs, there shouldn’t be anything “low salary” about it. And we’re not even talking about the indirect costs.

Then you get the meltdown scenarios, and it’s a dumpster fire.

Scheduling and tracking have been exactly the same way, with the exact sub par performance, for as long as I’ve been here. They can never seem to fix what appears to be a systemic, silo driven problem, which is actually characteristic of a lot of issues.
You hit the nail right on the head. These trackers are making decisions that cost this company a lot of money. I think if we had some hard numbers we would honestly all be astounded at the cost. There is no way we need "low cost" employees making these huge screw ups that seem to cascade.

I hate say it but automated processes are the only true solution to these major issues we are having.

BTW, what ever happened to the Roll Call option on iCrew? Does anyone rember that?

Yeah, I somehow managed to disable spellchecker on APC. Can’t/don’t care about figuring out how to fix it.

(I don’t work for Delta IT. Not a boomer either. I swear.)

I just bought the Charlie Munger book as well.

Two days a month and two weeks of annual training is something I've heard before at another employer. It is a viable option for employees in other work groups to have a "part time" job in CS, CT and CA.

you can ACARS dispatch or use flight family to get in touch with someone. There were willing pilots at the gate offering to work the flight to get home but could not get in touch with anyone through the phone.

I did that today. ACARS direct to tracking, no response. They were so far underwater they should all get scuba certs.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a response to an ACARS to tracking even during normal ops. Asking dispatch to relay a message to them normally yields the best result.

at least you tried. Some people just want to sit back and do nothing, hoping to get paid more at everyone else’s expense. That sums up ATL flying for you.

Hey, at least the CPO in ATL was working hard today!

Oh wait nevermind it’s Sunday. Completely closed up with a “Return at 0800” sign on the window.
