AMS landing incident
Interesting report on the A330 short landing incident in AMS. Lots of mitigating factors for the crew and comments on fatigue and breaks ect... Good reading for A330 pilots.

Captain's description of their time in the crew rest area, " Although the captain mentioned he ‘may have napped for a little while’ during his break, he also indicated that he had not much sleep due to noise and disturbance".

On the standard -300 it was often quite noisy in the bunk area depending on the timing of the flight attendant breaks and how courteous they might attempt to be.

All this makes me wonder how the 767 curtain seat was legal. I never slept in that seat though I tried. I almost always had first break though and was the zombie not in a control seat for landing.

Although the report says that fatigue may have been a contributing factor, keep in mind that the home team there flies not only DTW-AMS unaugmented, but also ORD, MSP and YYC without relief crews, and that's completely through their WOCLs. Most telling to me is the chart showing the touchdown points of various aircraft that morning. All four of DL's touched down before the 500 ft markers, whereas none of the other carriers' flights did. This suggests to me that maybe DL pilots are trained in short field landings using a technique that wasn't quite appropriate here. But most of the blame, in my opinion, should lay upon the government for not allowing a decent precision approach to runway 24 due to noise abatement reasons, even though very strong southwest winds there are so common.

Class 3 is 40 degrees and no curtain. Yikes.
Agreed that the ER and -400 rest seats are homeless encampments. We should have bunks downstairs with the FA's.

I get it, but classifying it doesn't make it better or worse. Timing has a lot to do with it as well. First break was during the bumper cart derby and the daylight.
