Post Seeking Information About SEA Base

Hi, does anyone here have the latest information about the Seattle base?
What fleet types?
Future plans?
How senior is it for FOs and CAs on various fleet types?
How big is the base?
Is it a base that we can expect will stick around in the very long-term?
Thanks so much!

Anything outside of Atlanta is suspect for the long term, but so far Delta seems to be supporting Seattle. We have A220s, 320s, 330s, and 737s here. Roughly 1300 pilots. Not sure about captain seniority, but junior pilots can get it within a few months.

Thank you. Yeah, I sure hope Seattle remains a Delta base far into the future. It seems like a great place to live. It would really suck for Delta pilots living in Seattle if Delta were to remove SEA as a pilot base.

So at 1300 pilots, is SEA one of the smallest bases? Or are there some bases that are even smaller? How big is the smallest base?

SLC is basically the same size. LAX a tad smaller. MSP has ~1500 and DTW has ~1800. BOS is the smallest base with zero pilots

So current base size appears to have no bearing on the future status of the hub.

Interesting. Thanks!

On a side note, if let's say hundreds of senior pilots all suddenly wanted to bid for SEA, would it push out the junior pilots already based in SEA and force them to a different base? Or are pilots wanting to change bases restricted to taking only "vacant" spots?

Your premise would only happen with displacements. For example, if they removed 330s from Seattle but kept the other planes, senior 330 pilots could bump less senior pilots out. With our current situation, though, openings have to be posted or backfilling has to happen for a senior pilot to get in. They can't just bump someone out.

base size is distorted by the east coast. About 36% of our active pilots are ATL based and roughly 2/3rds are based in the eastern time zone.
