Lurking DM passenger here who wanted to say congratulations to y'all and hope it drives lots of upward mobility. I don't live in BOS but get there often so I'm excited at the potential based on this announcement. On the 330 side, Delta is opening a Delta One lounge there this fall (JFK one opened just a week ago, LAX and SEA coming late this year/early next) so hopefully that bodes well for increased international service.
Also looking forward to the growth prospects on the narrowbody side (displacing RJs, etc.) on the 220, 320 or what have you. Yet BOS does have its challenges with space (gates, simultaneously running things out of both A and E now) so we'll see I guess.
Cheers!

They won't be getting rid of "RJ's" anytime soon. They are actually bringing more out of storage including some dreaded 200 models . They have to add more domestic lift and because of the 3 to 5 year delay with the NEO and not enough mainline pilots they are trying to add more RJ's back ,LOL. They will always try to Cram more RJ's on because it's a scam. They sell it to the customer as "mainline" but they won't pay all the other "mainline" benefits to the employees.

Its interesting that they say 250 pilots
People have said this flying may come from nyc or dtw
DTW has been short staffed on the FO side for 3 years. No drops, no swaps, constant greenslips for 2 years - and hardly any AE slots.
A quick look at next summer for dtw subject to change -
AMS - 3 flights
FRA
MUC
CDG - 2 flights
LHR
FCO
HNL
so 10 daily departures scheduled as of right now and only 135-140 pilots
I think when they open this bos base it will be almost all 6 day trips with the exception of TLV or ATH - but maybe even those will route through NYC
I think if they are not going to grow any of the other bases BOS is why and you will see six days through ams, cdg, lhr, hnl, fco through dtw and nyc
Im really hoping to see some dtw, msp, 330b slots on this ae but if there are none, i think bos will be the reason

That's why DTW 330 is not growing - in fact, after BOS opens and reachs the 250 pilots, DTW will be the smallest 330 base in the system.

Question is will all the flights to and from Europe be 3 man crew, AMS, LHR and CDG might be under 8 hours from BOS. I believe JetBlue flies many 2 man crew flights to Europe from BOS, and it is Junior because of that. Also a rotation out of ATL to Europe would be worth 19+ hours, NYC 15+, Boston min guarantee. Lots of questions for sure.

I haven’t done much BOS flying, but a year or so ago I believe we had 5:30ish block BOS-LHR. I do remember that the block time for our 3-person crew was shorter than the BOS-SAN (or was it LAX) 2-person crew that was leaving the hotel at the same time.
