I don’t know, wasn’t there. You wanted to know about fiscal responsibility, that was my answer.
Its one thing to use your seniority to manipulate your schedule within the realms of the contract, it’s another thing to manipulate a schedule (let’s say have every weekend off) by creative ALPA day scheduling that would never be within the realm of your seniority.
Edit. I think it’s fine to have PUB events. Nothing wrong with social gatherings, doesn’t have to be business all the time. C81 does a fish fry every summer. C81 also doesn’t lose $4k if they cancel the fish fry..

I guess my point with the Jazz game is what would it have cost if C81 had to cancel that due to a serious business matter coming up? Bet it was pretty similar. Not really a recall issue in my book, but you can decide if it is for you, assuming you are one of the 4500...

So for all ALPA reps and volunteers, no using ALPA to get a better schedule. How about when we bid CQ with reserve, no bidding a day or two before and after where you will be unusable, especially if it gets you a weekend off? Why should it be a punishment to be a rep? I think those guys (all 17 and the committees etc) work their tail off to make our job better, certainly work much harder than I do. Can't they just use the rules as they are? If it gets to gross, vote in reps who will change them. Those guys are like .3% of the Sr list, is it really killing the rest of us if they get a weekend off of flying? Maybe you just call them every few hours that weekend to make sure they're working.

It is our purview to have recalls. How they go or not, is up to the voting members in the council. To answer your question I would need a timeframe, I've witnessed many many recalls over the years. I don't know the "last" LEC meeting you attended. Mine was 18 years ago.

So in your judgement it would be a good decision to air that kind of union business in a crowded public forum, full of potential customers? Have you been to a recall meeting?

You say deflection, I say context and perspective, maybe even illumination. Did you ask your reps if they sought a refund for the down payment? Would YOUR reps know if you asked them?
