WBA sounds nice, not sure if I can afford the paycut!

Care to elaborate? Would this be due to potentially less GS or is it the new soft pay in the domestic system?

Both. A senior NB A that hustles is almost certainly going to out earn a junior WB A.

Yes - if you live in base. As a commuter I think it would heavily favor the WB. Just my 2 cents based on going from an in base NB A, to a commuting NB A, to a commuting WB B in the last 4 years.

I really love the flexibility that WB gives commuters but if I was driving to work I would probably go back to NB. This is just a personal preference and everyone is different.

As 172 said - both.

GS opportunties (especially for day trips) have been plentiful and living in base means many are do-able. A day trip I can fit in my schedule easily, where WB trips are a minimum of 3 days usually, hard to do both with rest requirements and family life. Also, if scheduling has a turn they need to fill, or a quick equipment sub for a turn they come out as an easy GS - sometimes less than a hour each way of flying, makes for a nice GS.

The soft time, (EDP mostly) adds up and now that I'm senior in my NB A category, better vacation choices (actually can get a summer vacation!) had better QOL.

I'll eventually go to the WBA but when I was WB B, the trips were pretty repetitive. Maybe in a few years they'll expand our destination mix and there will more variety (I know NYC 330 has a nice mix, but that's become a tough commute since COVID with less flights from looking in TravelNet) and I currently live in a different base.

Depends, but I'd say in a majority of cases even a commuting mid to senior NB A will far out earn a commuting junior reserve WB A. I believe those bottom reserve positions in bases like NYC continue to get more junior while the seniority to hold 80% or betters stays flat. There's often WB folks on various Widget boards complaining about excess SCs.

Hustles…gross. That sounds like work both at and away from work. Time to go get paid for my nap.

I think the term "hustle" means more with working with icrew/ARCOS to WS broken trips, drop, swap, etc. You might end up "working" 20 days in a month but most of those days are one leg out, layover, one leg back, or short day turns. Now someone who flies 20+ days a month on standard 3-4-5 day rotations, that sounds gross.

To each their own. The hustle can also mean that you’re on call all the time in order to snag those easy trips. Unless you’re in the top 10% of your category. It can be way worse than reserve.
