What is the logic of them doing this mid bid awyways if it is not accurate? It always go much senior and gives a chance to some pilots to change their minds and mess with other's bids. I might be wrong but it seems unfair to junior pilots.

It's good to get a big picture idea of what's reasonable. I'm pretty junior but it was very helpful when I put in my upgrade bid. My #1 choice was to stay on my current plane (ER) and upgrade. After the initial super junior awards, it started trending more senior and I was unsure if I could hold it anymore. 717A had been consistently going junior to me for the past few months so I had that in as a second choice. When the mid bid came out it showed me in the bottom few getting awarded upgrade on the ER, while showing almost everyone getting 717A to be junior to me again. I used that information knowing there might be a chance to stay and upgrade on the ER to take out my 717A bid. That way if I was close but missed the ER, I wouldn't get awarded the 717 and could try again for a couple more months and see if it was consistently close or if it started going significantly more senior and then I would just focus on the 717. Luckily I was able to get it when the real awards came out, barely, because it did trend more senior than the mid bid.

Unfair? I respectfully disagree. Other airlines have had it for a long time. We've been asking for it for years - decades.

We've now had 9 AE's with a Mid-Bid snapshot. I can maybe understand the complaint in the first couple until it became self-evident the final results went more senior. But as with 1000 other things here, a little experience will tell you the reality is a little different. Kinda like the big red "THIS IS ONLY A SAMPLE ... AND AWARDING ALL POSTED POSITIONS" at the top which a lot of people gloss over. And that is the primary reason the final results are more senior, because they tweak the final settings to not award every single contingent (secondary) vacancy, which is compliant with the PWA.

Great example. For me, I like having a sneak peek even though I'm not even in the market for a change. It's roughly a week early from the final results, and lets me see how many awards might be making me more senior. While I can understand the disappointment for a NH seeing his/her name on a Mid bid, only to not see it on the final, folks have to understand the (posted) limitations, and not have unreasonable expectations. JMO.

It gives me a good reason to contact my reps and fill out the surveys so that AE postings actually have to be followed. The process we have now doesn't make much sense, where the company can post 30 slots somewhere and award 0. The sample award differs in large part because the company is able to modify the offerings to their liking until they get their most desired results.

This. I get that we need excess FO positions for new hires, but at a minimum they should be required to fill every posted/vacated CA position

10-K is out. https://d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.ne...a93082512f.pdf

In January 2024, we entered into a purchase agreement with Airbus for 20 A350-1000 aircraft, with an option to purchase an additional 20 widebody aircraft. Deliveries of these aircraft are scheduled to begin in 2026. Other fleet numbers and purchase comitments on pages 29-30.

So, will we see results today or are we looking at Monday?

Its a ballpark. As long as you know the caveats, it's a useful tool. If you sit middle of the pack on a lean award, then it's 50/50, but still I'd rather have that data to make a decision. I know a few guys who took junior upgrade on one fleet and then an AE later would have held one they'd prefer. Mid bid report might have shown them closer to their desired fleet and altered their bidding choices.

I like the current AE system. We've been asking for more frequent bids with more info, and we have it.
