If I remember correctly the -10 isn’t even that significantly longer or higher capacity then the -9 and has a slightly shorter range. The plan at the previous carrier was to use them as trans con machines and seasonal Hawaii flying. I don’t think they had the legs to go west without a tech stop from the PNW as we were already having to do that with the -9’s occasionally. Was a nice airplane and the LEAP’s sipped fuel but I wish we’d just order XLR’s and continue our airbus growth. I’ve lost faith in Boeing unfortunately.

I'm down here for training and I noticed a nice and shiny new MAX9 sim. Thought that was kind of surprising since we're, apparently, only ordering MAX10s.

Is there a difference in the cockpit?

All Neo sims/FTDs are A320neo, and DL doesn't have those either. I assume sim manufacturers just made a common model as the differences are so minor.

the 10 will have a new touch screen FMC on either both sides or the FO side along with the moving map/safe taxi on the ND for situational awareness while on the ground. Other then that I don’t think there’s many differences in the flightdeck. Both those I’m sure can be retrofitted into a -9 sim.

I mean Boeing has basically been retrofitting the 737 since 1968...

The -10 isn't certified yet, so no sim available yet. The Sims's will be upgraded to a -10 once certified. We need a max sim now to conduct the necessary conversion training prior to our first deliveries.

Now if it's just delayed a bunch... I don't know if they would buy the Max -9. It probably has slightly higher seat miles costs than the Max 10, but that's just a guess. If Boeing keeps say, "Van - I mean Max 10 airplane - will be there in 5 minutes, it just left the factory..." would Delta wait?
So far they have stated we will have the same number of seats in the -10 as we do in the 737-900. Whether that means the 10a were going to have lie flats or just more comfort seats, the max 9 would likely just maintain current configuration.

Actually 2 more seats. 182 is the configuration with more first class seats and more economy comfort seats than the -900’s.
