As a commuter I absolutely hate the second jumpseat on 737s. I would rather not make it to work. And as a 737 captain, I don't think I'd take a jumpseater on that jumpseat on a flight much more than an hour.

As someone who commutes on a 737 90% of the time, yes please.

gong. You do you and stay behind in the terminal while your ride home pushes back from the gate. Stand firm in those convictions. But please don’t begrudge a fellow traveler asking to ride the js on a flight that’s over 60 minutes.

To be fair if you wanna ride home on the second jumpseat then you have to order them with the second jumpseat whether or not you life to work in it or not.

Whoosh…. Also “life to work” is a PTC thing.

It’s a moot point because we not getting a second JS on MAX’s 10’s. I’m all for getting pilots home, but not at the sacrifice of my comfort. Sounds harsh, but those are the facts. 75, 320, absolutely - bring on the second JS. 73 - absolutely not. Pure misery with 4 pilots in that cramped cockpit.

Of course they would say that. They’ve already got one JS and they knew that when they chose to commute with that knowledge. Maybe they’ll get lucky and Airbus will start serving their city.

737 Captain is a choice

One middle ground would be to keep the 3 extra FA JS currently in the Lion Air birds. Yes pilots don’t get first priority but that would either open up more JS for pilots if there are fewer than 3 FAs listed or it would open up more cabin seats for nonrev as FAs take those seats instead.
