Interesting that they backfilled some 765 vacancies in NYC. I thought there were no backfills on mock awards.

the opposite. Mocks have back fills that the finals will not.

You've had no WIFI on the 737 in WAT Airspace? Still, even if there was no WIFI the Multiscan radar makes navigation around weather really easy. Especially at night.

Several no WiFi flights. Radar is fine but when you have to verbally request 50 L on a busy night of deviating, a heads up by listening to what is going on in front of you is valuable. Always deviate towards Bermuda and you just might get within ACARS range and receive a message that you requested earlier. You can always say YMMV but mine has, varied a lot. I love the possible attitude towards Delta ops but this is an area of real world “laggardship” when it comes to sensible usage of assets and tech.

This is somewhat true. While NYC WAT flying on the 73N has been decimated, the ATL-Carribbean 73N is picking up for now. BGI and CUR added in NOV. But I think it's only a matter of time before the NEO comes for that too. MAX is the great hope and it's arrival timeframe in 1.5 years is shaky at best.

I was planning to go to the ER but NBA flying is about to be wiped out. The proposed AQP transition between all the Airbus same seat might be too good to pass up considering the growth on all fleets. The Airbus eventually comes for us all.

Only guess is all the 6x days with BOS layovers are no more in NYC, hence no need to replace those that bid out.

My thoughts…..the NYC 330 bid pack has been full of front and back end BOS deadhead trips for the last few months. Those will undoubtedly go away once BOS opens. Add to that the overall block hour decrease as per seasonal norm and that should mean less need for NYC 330 backfills in the short term. I imagine that will change before summer 2025 flying begins but by that time, the BOS training churn will be done, category lists more settled and NYC can be adjusted as needed.

NYC is easy to staff. There will always be the ambitious types bidding 330A and wanting it ASAP. Won’t happen again, but you can always put new hires in the right seat if nobody wants 330B.
