It’s crazy but I’ve seen it. Especially when MSP and DTW ER closed post Covid, the amount of people choosing to commute vs retrain on something else was/is mind blowing.

Remeber Boeing guys/gals…an Airbus is not a real airplane, you can’t really fly that thing.

Most will also complain the whole time about how they got screwed by the base opening late in their career.

Mind blowing unless one sometimes thinks outside the box. Many to and from deadheads to MSP. Many MSP layovers. 4 professional sports teams from MSP that create long layovers and beginning and ending deadhead for the whole charter rotation. Six other cities less then one hour flight with one to four teams per city. Three or four international destinations on the ER out of MSP.

Many months never take a jumpseat to work. Just get paid to positive space to where ever the first working leg begins or ends to get back to MSP.

Biggest single pay dirt ($$$) I have hit since the base was closed. Has nothing to do with retrain unless one enjoys the 757/67 and it options available domestic and international.

Yeah I'm sure your outside the box thinking was why you chose to commute. Because you knew your next bid package would have pay dirt...
Nice post hoc.

In summary:

1) 50 BOS 330A positions. If all who sucessfully bid it are 330 current and qualified they will award them all. As soon as they have to send x number to IQ they will stop.
2) Almost all pilots who live in the BOS area are currently based in NYC. Backfills will not happen on the Boeings.
3) The mock award will be meaningless and lead to some heartache.
4) Whatever happens widebody A will be a few hundred numbers junior to 4400.

Exactly my point. Their bidding behavior will drive this AE.

if it ain’t broke… The only question is what it will do to the bid packets and does QOL change (get worse) if you don’t make a move.

Ill bet there is at least 30-50 A330 A's that commute from the NE already. Mass, NH, VT. If they only have to train 10- 20 guys on this bid...they'll probably award them all. FO side is bigger and more of a question.
