Prepare Yourselves… 2024 AEs

Depends who and when you ask. We’ve been told everything from late 2020s to early 2030s.
As long as they can make money off of them, they’ll be flying. Should the economy slow and demand slip, it could be on the earlier end of the timeline, and if not, probably towards the back of it.
They are slowly taking out a few from the inventory. But considering we were still getting planes out of long term storage from Covid as recently as May…
Long winded way to say: when you see them get new interiors, that’s how you’ll know the end is nigh

No. Starlink uses Low Earth Orbit Satellites vs Viasat's Geostationary Orbit satellites. Starlink currently has 6,200 satellites and needs at least 10,000 satellites for global coverage. Viasat needs 2 GEO satellites to cover the globe. Each Viasat satellite lasts 15 years. Starlink's satellites last 3-5 years before needing replacement; you can just replace one, but you will need several launches to replace the constellation, which makes it an extremely capital-intensive business. There are plenty of Billionaires blowing Billions in private equity and VC money on LEO systems with no proof of sustainable profit in sight. Viasat has been around for a long time and is cashflow positive. Delta and many other airlines did the math and went with a proven product.
Viasat did have a malfunction on the launch of the 1st of 3 next-gen Viasat-3 satellites, which were planned to provide global coverage of high-speed internet. The antenna malfunctioned, and the satellite only provides 10% of the planned capability. The satellite will be moved to provide coverage to the Middle East and booth bandwidth of the remaining two Viasat satellites to be launched in mid-2025. The antenna malfunction issue was investigated and mitigated for future launches

Vacation Retention
With an AE, if you check the box to retain a vacation, is this sacrosanct? In the past they've liquidated mine during IQ. The way I read the latest PWA this is not longer allowed.

Considering we killed the maddog, 737-7 and the 777 all in one decision and kept the -ER... it wall take a black swan and then, maybe!

I would recommend taking a screenshot showing you checked the box to retain vacation. The last time I got an AE award I checked that box but forgot to take any screenshots (yes, I'm paranoid and screenshot tons of stuff).
Then, of course, they assigned IQ over my vacation. After finally getting ahold of someone and telling them I checked the box to retain my vacation it turned into a 'he said, she said', and since I had no proof (as most of you know, when you get an AE award iCrew clears out all of you bids and such) I had to eat the lost vacation. Probably should have talked to DALPA, next time...
