Unacceptable. That's 6-8 too many days of flying a month!

Nope, RES is the worst schedule one can have. Minimum 6 SCs and 18 days on call for who knows what kinds of trips, at any hour of the day or night, to any destination, in any weather with little notice. Do not punish yourself like that, you deserve much better. Anyone with less than 50% seniority can have a REG line with days off and the destinations of your choice.

You're a reserve bidder trying to scare off the senior folks, right?

Shhh. First rule of reserve etc . That being said, if you commute the game has changed a bit with the new scheduling addiction to shortcall. I’m senior, don’t bid it, and already have 4 this month. I went through a stretch of reserve for about 8 years where I never hit 4 SCs in a month and there’s still 2/3 of the month to go.

It doesn't mean anything, just and observation. Just gotta adjust your gameplan and move on. In the case of above, if you enjoyed NOT flying bid packet trips, it's not a great thing.

I'm happy, though I would be happier if we actaully had this good staffing everyone talks about. This is the worst staffing my category has seen in years, means the ways to improve your schedule are diminishing. I'm guessing for many categories, that staffing didn't necesessarily increase, it's just that you have more reserves available (not on PB days). Commuters were happy to get the 18 hour callout, but now many are whining because they sitting more short calls. Some were happy about silver slips, but are now whining because it's "unfair." It's all nuanced.
