They even do Boston from Bogota with the Neo. Buenos Aires too, a shade under 3090 miles. Are we about to start another "Neo sucks" thread?

Had an FO who flew the Neo for LATAM, they use them all around South America.
If Delta had 320/319NEO, I'm sure we would still run the route, but I'm guessing everyone is alluding to our 321NEO not being capable enough for the route. Now, here's a thought: As Delta onboards more 220-300s, could that be a viable aircraft for JFK-BOG?

I wouldn't be shocked to see 320Neos come down the line, via the used market. We love a discount plane, and it would handle the performance routes well. That or Max8, same idea.

There is no indication that they intend to put the necessary equipment on board for over water ops, and just eyballing it, the distance over the Caribbean Sea is looks beyond 162NM. Jetblue has equiped their 223s for it.

I really feel we are making a strategic error not equiping the 220s for over water ops, but, according to a former LLCA 'we have plenty of other jets that can handle it".

full 767’s and downsizing it to a 220? I don’t see that happening

BOS TO BOG. I'm talking the other way. Big difference coming the other way. Take off out of an 8356 ft elev airport and fly to the NE non-stop with a distant alt? No way. Unless the plane is half empty and no cargo.

Pleas re-read my post.

Also, we fly a crap ton of cargo on our JFK-BOG-JFK route.

the 220-300 is a very capable aircraft. I would see that over a NEO from BOG ---> anywhere in NE and not be PO'd to the max. We fly a lot of cargo on those JFK-BOG-JFK runs.

Looking at fares on BOG JFK, I'm not surprised we cut it. Avianca offering cheap fares even a day out, don't think there is a plane that isn't powered by fairy dust that would make it profitable enough at our cost structures. It's a route that can be fairly easily connected to through ATL, as much of the network is.

Two 767s retired in the last week, fringe flying will see cuts, especially low yielding.

Wow didn't realize no overwater in 220-300s. That's unfortunate for such a capable plane.

Saw that, looks like all the super old models that were doing transcons and Hawaii going to SBD. Will be replaced on those routes by 76Ks that were doing transoceanic. 330s replacing 76Ks. Also looks like we'll have 5ish growth of WBs for Summer 25 so probably no new splashy destinations til 26 with the arrival of the 350-1000
