We're not doing what? 310-330? I just looked at my last 8 flights leaving Hawaii in flight pulse, 6 of them started at 310, 2 of them at 330, all but one were 195k pounds or more at takeoff, half were over 200k.
It's a slow climber, that's for sure, I don't think anyone ever claimed otherwise. I do not feel like it struggles, I hit open climb and managed speed and let it do its thing, it'll get there.

On the "proof" flights on the NEO. At or near MG weight for TO. Distant Alt scenario, the plane struggled. I followed one of you out of BOS the other day. We're both heading west. BOS had to vector you out of our way becasue you were climbing at <290 and it wasn't for turb either. The pilot stated "this is the best we can do right now" - then they got the vector.
Can it climb at 310ish, yeah. but not often.
Pretty much done with this distraction as this will only degrade the sub here.

Were you optimized? What was your alternate? What was TOW?

I'm seeing the Neo at 340 on AUA JFK. The Max is a similar performer.
I don't know why the Airbus has a diss squad from 73/75 guys. Seems to be a great jet, and the A321neo is the best selling single type ever made as of right now. Yeah you're not hitting 410, but you're burning less gas than the 757 at 410. I want efficient jets, that makes profit sharing happy.

He said lucky to get low 30s from AUA. I was comparing what the Max9 does on some longer stuff. Same deal from AUA, United is hitting 330 to Newark. https://www.flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL1043/history/20240811/2010Z/TNCA/KEWR

I really don’t see us ending up with 787s at this point. We have a substantial amount of a330NEOs at this point and I don’t see us getting a different plane in that size range. The cost to stand up a new fleet with little commonality to any of our existing fleets just does not seem likely.
While I’m not sure we get the max 10s, I think we end up with something from the max family unless AB gives us a sweetheart deal on a large 220/320 family order.

Correct I agree with the Rome vs BHM min rest but I’m not comparing that. I’m talking junior 330 WBA vs senior 320 NBA so Rome vs 2x day transcon in SEA or SAN or a 4x day SFO, BOS, LAS etc.

The NEO is a beautiful, beautiful working environment but climbs like an absolute dog. Not really a negative but having flown the JS of a MAX it doesn’t compare performance wise. Sips gas though. Autolands have been flawless. Big engines and eyeliner make it easy on the eyes too.
