They probably got really tired of all the guys who were hoping for a bypass and didn’t get one backing out of the award as is our right now once per career. BS even implored people to not count on bypasses on several AE postings.

With the one time right, bypasses are a part of doing business. That's a good thing because awards will go more juniour because of this. Which means backfills will go more junior and so on.

Jul AE Plug
WB A 36XX 20.9%
WB B 127XX 73.4%
NB A 148XX 85.6%

A more senior WB A bid. Which is crazy considering they posted 40 WB A vacancies but awarded 91 WB A's - more than double what was posted. And all but 6 of those were awarded in pre-posted categories. 19 posted NB A vacancies, but awarded 59 NB A's (a little less suprosing since the extra WB A's created secondary vacancies for some extra NB A's) Too early to say if this portends a new/senior trend, since the last 2 bids were FO only, and there haven't been any WB A's since March. Interesting that there was a bypass at 146XX, I'm guessing a 9E flow who came over and will hit 65 pretty soon. That's gotta be a some kind of record, or darn close. I'd expect the fall bids to generate much more movement.

As always, there will be awards beyond what is posted, so BWYW WWYB. Including unposed categories.

I'll update the pinned thread with this and the Jun stats for posterity. I didn't do it last month since it was such a small FO only bid. Not sure if folks are interested in keeping this kind of 'watch' on the stats going forward or not.

A more senior WB A bid.
I think one of the reasons WB A particularly NYC330A went more junior last year(mid 4000s) were that they coincided with a massive bid pack of 6x day trips. With BOS coming I would guess it will return to normal mostly 3x day(or at least not anywhere near as many 6-days) and will go back to historic norms. Just a guess. With last years drop into the mid-4000s WBA in NYC has always hovered in the mid-3000’s.

Could you please clarify what a “bypass” is?

thanks

Pilot bids and is awarded something better on an AE.
Company decides it’s cheaper to leave you at your old category, but pay you at the higher rate you can hold.
Usually triggered if you have about 3-5 months before Age65, totally at company choice.

one thing, if you asked for a bypass and don’t get it, no one junior to you can get bypassed either. So it’s based on if you asked and then seniority order.
