What gator says below is true, but what I'm talking something a bit different. I'm saying that 717 trips almost never go above 5.25/day. High time turns on other NB's can pay in the high 6's to low 8's, which are trips you can get as a senior NB guy. When your run the numbers, a high time turn on 73NB/320B generally pays more (or almost even) per day, than a typical day as a 717A (another reason the 717 should have been banded up). It really just depends on how you view income. What do you prefer, highest W2, highest Pay/day, highest pay/TAFB, highest pay/drives to the airport, etc... It's certainly not for everyone, but there is a reson you see pilots who could hold WB A in the right seat of NB's and it's not just a lack of skill.

Not at all, you're right about that. A good friend in the right seat of the 717 will likely easily top my pay this year without working that hard. Flexibility is key for this game though.

WB varies considerably across fleets and bases. LAX 350 and NYC 330 are junior for a reason. 3 day 25 hour "daytime" Asia trips are the best WB flying.

Up until the end of last year, LAX 350 was the most senior FO category at the company. It’s currently the second most senior, after MSP 330B. For the captains, it’s currently about average in terms of widebody seniority.

Junior LAX 350 FO: 11,800
Junior LAX 350 CA: 3,800

For some reference:
Junior ATL 350 FO: 14,200
Junior DTW 350 FO: 13,500
Junior ATL 330 FO: 12,600
Junior DTW 330 FO: 12,100
Junior SEA 330 FO: 11,860
Junior NYC 330 FO: 15,300
Junior MSP 330 FO: 10,300

(ATL/NYC 765 FO 14,000/15,000)

Junior WBA’s range from 2900 (ATL 765)- 4500 (NYC 330)

LAX-SYD is actually a great trip and not too fatiguing considering 4 man crew. It’s a very short, commutable 4-day trip, worth 29 hours.

Is there a reason why the 350 goes more junior in bases that have both, such as DTW and ATL? Is it because the 330 goes to more destinations? I'm just a lowly 73 guy in MSP, and I've considered commuting to DTW350B because it'll take years longer to hold MSP330B.

Most of those junior numbers stemmed from the 6-9 month window post covid where there were a bunch of AE openings, a ton of new hires, and a boatload of pilots still on seat locks. The 350 awards haven’t gone that junior since

The 330 has traditionally had more, arguably better, destinations. The 350 also does a ton of Asia ULH which isn’t for everyone. Now that they’re pay banded, relative seniority and bid package preference seem to be the deciding factors.
