Another data point. Just ordered a new BMW. Had very specific things I wanted, so I built it on the BMW North America website and sent the build to about 5 or 6 different dealerships on the west coast. They all came back with vastly different prices (credits/rebates, etc). So shop around. It’s difficult to get a build allocation for the vehicle so I’m waiting for one. Fortunately I’m not in a hurry as it will probably take 4 or 5 months. They offer a military discount and previous owner discount. That was pretty consistent throughout the dealerships.

First point makes sense. If that’s your mission, Tesla (any EV really) isn’t for you yet. Disagree on the second. Unlike a power or gas company, if you don’t like the price of a Tesla you can just buy elsewhere. Dealers are just middlemen. I don’t want to deal with a middleman to buy power, gas, or anything really. Nor do I want to haggle, just show me the data and price and I’ll make a call.
YMMV

With one notable exception ona high demand vehicle, I’ve always been able to “haggle” a much better price, several times below invoice. I’d rather haggle.

Do your own due diligence. Go to the forums of whatever vehicle you are buying to get a pulse on what other people are paying.

I got "Weird options" but here is the baseline
4 door long bed pickup (450 comes in a cab and chassis too)
4.30 gears (standard, no actual choice)
6.7 Turbo Diesel HO (Diesel only engine in 450, but there was a 300hp, 325hp and 425hp version my year)
Power seats but cloth. Basically lariat/platinum seats, but no vinyl, cruise, but not no touchscreen HVAC. Knobs and buttons for that.
Carpet delete (wall to wall rubber floor)
Rear seat stowed has bins that can fold flat for flat rear floor
upfitter switches
Trailer TPMS system
puck mount 5th wheel
remote start
Actual key start vs fob. (I hate FOBs)
Manual command for DPF Regen
48 gallon tank
397 amp charging system (2 alternators)
Auxillary electric heat. Start truck, defrosters and heat work off electric until engine comes up to temp
Engine brake
Couple other oddball things that I don't have the build sheet handy for.

...of course I will be the first in line for the 2026 Tesla roadster with the SpaceX optional rockets. They are targeting 0 to 60 in under one second. About the same as a cat shot.

I agree. I got my Model S plaid and it's a super rush, 0 to 60 in 1.98 sec and as a hatchback has lots of storage space. 100 MPG equivalent. Fastest true production car ever made.

1. Safest car ever built by man
2. Lots of space with a small, easy to park, footprint
3. Charge at home - much better than going to a gas station
4. No service requirements & stuff that has to get done can mostly be done conveniently in your own driveway. Services I've had in 70,000 miles
- - one set of tires
-- 12v battery (covered under warranty)
-- Cabin Air Filters (twice)
5. $7,500 tax break
6. One of the cheapest cars to own (less than a Toyota Corolla) due to the lower energy costs, tax credits and low purchase price
Really nothing even competes unless she's pulling more than 3,500#
