A few new hire classes have LAX 320 or 737 sprinkled in. If you can't hold LAX in your new hire class, bid 737, 320, or 7ER (what Delta calls the 75/76) in any other base and you'll be able to hold LAX on the next AE (what Delta calls a system bid). We typically have AEs every 2-3 months, but not always.

LAX is an awesome base--a very laid back vibe and a good mix of senior and junior pilots.

Class seniority is determined by the last four digits of your social security number. Highest is most senior. 9999 would be the best and 0000 the worst.

Full disclosure, it’s been 5 months since our last AE. I don’t know how much pent up movement is in those 1000 that got hired since then, but it has been recent that you could move base to pretty much anywhere on the next bid. So there could be 30 320 LAX spots but 30 people already on property that want 320 LAX (or more). Regardless bid it, because secondary vacancies and all.

Next AE in second half of June. Captain bid (in the FO/CA tick tock cycle of filling then promoting). Sound like growth in NYC/LAX/ATL. Seems the company wants to use all these new gates.

For any new lurkers, this cannot be overstated. You will not get a category unless you have a bid in. There are ALWAYS extra positions filled than posted due to people bidding out, and getting backfilled.

“You miss 100% of the shots you do not take.”

To even expound a little more, if you are leaving a somewhat staffed category, and going to a very poorly staffed one, they can break your seat lock if they want.

Edit: unless something changed in this contract, I haven’t looked at any new bidding language yet.

Not sure I buy that “justification”. We’ve had a WB captain year 1 pay rate in every table I’ve ever seen.

Keep hearing that Mid June for the next AE. Would the earliest conversion date be after the summer ends? I can’t see them starting to send people to training until after the summer ends.

Early June was mentioned today at ATL base visit.

First conversion could be 2 Jul (first day of Jul bid period)
