Being senior and flying international helps. Plus vacation. And trip buys (4F1T) with a green slip over those days.
Edit: Round up. Closer to 10 days.

To add to the pool to help you interpret your own averages… I bid reserve this month and I’m finished with 14 days worked, so 17 off blocking 50 hours and 94 hours of credit.

But you are saying what you do is average. Senior WB Fos account for, what, 5% of the pilot group? And trip buys, while not uncommon, are relatively rare. At the height of our GS extravaganza, there were something like 20k GS duty periods. That's less than 2 GS days a month, on average. While I don't doubt you can make money if you're senior...on a WB....getting bought off trips...GS over the footprint, that just isn't "the norm."

In my mind there are 3 reasons to sit reserve. You’re too junior to hold a line, you plan/hope to roll thunder, or manning is such that you won’t be used as much as a line holder and will get some “free” extra time off. Sitting reserve on purpose and getting used every day sounds like the 7th level of hell to me. But that’s the beauty of this place. A little something for everyone.
If you bid correctly, you can make it so that you fill up without being used every day, especially on low ALV months.

Default Mode number of days workerd at DL

You are correct. There are too many people sharing numbers that are exceptions.
Exactly. Mode is often ignored.

One should expect the mode as the most likely scenario, since all the overachievers are skewing the mean.

Hope for the best, expect/plan for the worst.

I concur, could be base dependent, but I don’t see the data you quoted as anywhere near reality atm

While the pay was high per day I worked, the last two years were not out of the ordinary for days worked. Over the years I had months where I worked zero days per month. My first five years I worked 5,6,7, 8, 10 days per month, respectively. I had reserve months where they never called me. There were economic times where they did not use people much. Wars, covid, recessions, etc. Sometimes I flew a lot.

I know some people are working very hard right now but you can’t conflate that and say it’s always going to be that way for everyone going forward. Some people are not flying at all. Everything reverts to the mean and with this new contract and new hiring people will work less. Contact DALPA for all the average days per month working. 1, 5 and 10 year averages.

Average Line Value / 5.25 = days you will work on reserve.

Something like 74/5.25= 15 (since you have to get to ALV before you can become JC Hammer)

We can ask to be flown first on reserve using a Yellow Slip. I would YS to ALV, then become JC. Enjoyed every Christmas and Thanksgiving off as a “full for the month” pilot.

Yes the new PWA may allow some extra time in there. Might drop someone down to 13 or 14 on. My bet is the company will figure out how to mitigate our deal. They’re smart that way.

You really expect us to believe you worked a total of 60 days your entire first year at Delta?
