I promise you reservations isn’t being swarmed with phone calls from people demanding refunds and wanting to take their business to UAL and AAL over our uniform change.

You do realize that our "brand" is being on time and cancelling less than our peers, right? We could wear brown suits and as long as we were on time, literally no one would care.
And inversely, if we had the worst reliability, no one would care if we were in black suits year round.

Having been in minor leadership roles in my last career, this uniform thing is going to explode until enforced by the bosses. But nothings really enforceable legally, so I expect a giant sh!t show come Nov. The company will suck up no hats/black sneakers to get through the summer.
Every major uniform change I’ve been through in my professional life resulted in tons of wasted time and money, then reverting back to the original uniform we replaced, only after lots of terrible fabrics and redesigns.

Since nobody cares what we wear, I’ll show up in a tan flight suit for my next trip. Then point to people not wearing hats and my personal on-time/in touchdown zone performance as my defense to do what I want.

I think the subtle, unspoken things can be more powerful than we give them credit for. A well-dressed workforce might not get compliments, but I’d bet it increases perception of safety, competence, and value. And those unspoken perceptions absolutely drive revenue.

To the point, SWA pilots routinely wear branded Columbia jackets and have a very strong brand.

Also, I predict we’ll be back to double breasted black wool uniforms by 2027. It’ll take three-years to flesh out that someone on the fourth floor is “fixing” something that isn’t broken (but not enforced) as a scheme to be praised and promoted by Ed. Once they’re gone, the person brought in to fix the impending uniform quagmire will ask “WTF did we do” and go back to what worked for like 80 years.

Gotchya. My point is that the “nobody cares crowd” actually cares. A lot… about what they want.

Delta has been trying hard since 19 to get is to use the "approved" uniform vendor. 2020 put a pause on that but i believe they notice people buying Lululemon, Dickies and Haggar pants and want to get us to stop using unapproved vendors. So they are creating this almost black uniform so that is more obvious

Again. I'm not saying be a slob. But if the single breasted jacket or a white suit or whatever the company decides looks professional enough and worn as intended, historic brand is irrelevant.

And I'm saying if it was so impactful, we would wear the jackets more than 4 months a year and there wouldn't be cutouts for Caribbean/tropics flying
