I think I am on a fleet where it is active, and I don’t even use the html other than to open the file from email to do initial ACARS loading/tell FAs the flight time. Otherwise, I like the paper and prefer to keep it.
Planning to bid a Huff Daland and be based in MLU next AE, too.
The paper release, while antiquated, is the last leverage we have over gate agents. Gate agent doesn’t get it until everyone on the crew is happy. We should keep it for that reason alone.

yes. They will be running both systems in parallel for a little while until everyone is fully used to the new system. It will be months.

that may be true, but you have to admit that me holding a physical piece of paper hostage is a more failsafe system.

I watched an agent close the door a couple days ago with the captain in the terminal. 757. I was jumpseating and in lav. I came out of lav, noticed captain not in seat, then told flight attendants, and sat back and watched. We didn’t leave without him. Went from 10 early to barely on-time.

I agree 100%. They could have just kept the old format (HTML, PDF, whatev) and sent it to our emails. Then sign off the FDRA on ACARS like every other airline in the world. I personally liked highlighting the PDF.
This is eerily reminiscent of the tablet we used prior to the iPad -- which shall not be named. We have to do things our own way.
We're stuck with it.

I don’t see the connection.
Was there an option to get some amazing app that was the best of FD Pro + Foreflight + John Bell HTML combined but we had to open up an email to initiate, and the union put their foot down with email optionality?
