Hey! We agreed. It's fine. It's not great. It's underwhelming and clunky and poorly designed but it will do what he's supposed to do

When I worked for a previous carrier there was a big push from one manager to move from JepFD Pro (industry standard) to a NavBlue product called Charts+. It was supposed to save something like $1M or whatever. There was at one point a Captain going around the crew room offering $20 for anyone who could find the DA for one of the approaches in base and most couldn't find it. It was so poorly received that no pilot wanted to use it, the FAA POI wouldn't sign off on it and many just rode out as long as they could without downloading it because it was so much worse. In the end the project was abandoned. This app reminds me of that.

Side note, if you look at the bulletin it mentions the back up method for signing the FDRA is to use ACARS... Which as I understand is the primary method for most other carriers!

I went to Velvet today and the topic of Mission+ was brought up. Brad Sheehan said they chose the Navblu product versus other options due to is ability to be customized. He said with the other products on the market you pretty much get what you get off the shelf. With Mission+ they will be able to tweak it as they get feedback. He also said that a lot of recent focus has been on the IT infrastructure. When they first started testing it they were experiencing a lot of technical glitches. Now that those issues are resolved they can focus on improving the final product. I'm on the 330 so I don't have access to it yet, but I would expect it to improve with time and feedback from the pilot group.

Do you have to check in, or can you just say you made it?

Asking for a friend of course

If I’m on a fleet where M+ is active, but I think it’s too much of a pain in the arse, can I still use the HTML via MiCrew for the time being?

I was trying to decide whether to do it or not, was it tolerable? Those are very good reasons to do it when on RSV btw!

I think I am on a fleet where it is active, and I don’t even use the html other than to open the file from email to do initial ACARS loading/tell FAs the flight time. Otherwise, I like the paper and prefer to keep it.
Planning to bid a Huff Daland and be based in MLU next AE, too.

The paper release, while antiquated, is the last leverage we have over gate agents. Gate agent doesn’t get it until everyone on the crew is happy. We should keep it for that reason alone.
Send the flames.
