"Just use it" says some rando on the interwebs - sure chief, I'll get right on it. FYI, I open it every flight. I've "use" it, but find it very cumbersome, clunky and extremely inefficient. JB's HTML is up on my iPad and I sign the paper. I think that will be the case for sometime. Love the timer BTW, great situational awareness.

BUT "set up all your shortcuts blah blah blah" ...... if M- was developed properly, I would not need to personally setup said shortcuts now would I? Still not "using" it. I will when the hammer falls, we all will, but I see it slipping to the right, way to the right. M- was not ready for prime time. BS knew it, but I think he was getting some heat from above to press with implementation. No doubt we paid NAVBLUE some serious $$$$$ for this clunker so better get to using it am i right?

I gotta go with JB on this one. It's just not as bad. It took me way less time to learn my way around M Plus than it did to learn my way around the release when I first got here.

I like highlighting what I think is important. Not some software engineer at Navblue.

Well you're fairly new here so I'd expect you to have not much familiarity with our release format.

You're missing the point, as is James. Let's look at. John Bell delivered a robust easy to use program for pilots, developed by a pilot. We initially used it on Adobe. An update to Adobe rendered the interactivity useless. John quickly adapted and gave us means to trick Adobe. Yet another update to Adobe killed that (if you happened to accidentally load it on your iPad, OR you had to get a new one that came with it preloaded). John again quickly adapted and gave us the Microsoft Edge interface. John has consistently been nimble and adaptive and produced tools for us that are characteristically easy to use, very intuitive highly functional and efficient on the flight deck. I didn't need an LMS academic to use his stuff or a long trial period.

Side bar on paperless. James can confirm I think we've been looking at paperless for about a decade and a half, maybe more. There are and were other solutions to this out there but our air line decided to go with NAVBLUE.

M- was foisted on us and the usual kool aid drinkers here pontificated to its virtues. Almost sounded like a FOPs cheerleading news letter here. Imagine if Apple dumped an app on you as clunky as M-. You'd burn their house down. Literally and figuratively. M- is not well thought out. It is cumbersome, clunky and is very inefficient. It take 4 taps to get to the ship notes. I can find it in <5 seconds on HTML. their are more examples, I won't go into it as I'm not here to convince anyone. I maintain its absolute implementation will be continually slipped to the right.

Personally I think we could have done better for delta pilots than M-. John could have been instrumental. However he was sidelined as this deal with NAVBLUE was most likely in the works and already baked in to our airbus orders. Too bad for us, now we are going to deal with an app, that has potential, but in my opinion that potential will be squandered on the alter of "not going to admit we messed up" management shield.

Again, I don't like using it. I'll continue to use John's products until I'm no longer allowed. My guess is I'll be retired by that time (hopefully). There won't be much more improvement to M-. It's already baked in as we are not only air line using it. There are gates with how far canned software can be "customized" and we are not going to have the luxury for tailoring it for our (the pilots) use. BTW this is nothing new for this air line. We're still suing a DOS based program in the 21st century. Can't wait to see how they replace iCrew. Glad I'll be gone by then. But you fellas enjoy finger banging your iPads to find the simplest of info that many can find in a quick 2-3 seconds on the HTML.

.
This is pretty much what I said in my FCR - when mission plus first came out, John wrote a long summary of M+ in the Small Groups testing for M+. I'm not going to repost, as it's his to post, not mine, but essentially he mentioned a lot of common failings, and had offered to help, but was rebuffed. It seem that with many Pilot projects (like iinitial Tablet device, Surface) the pilots opinion is not desired, and actually rejected as "we don't know what we want" and someone who in in charge of the project (typically NOT a pilot) make a decision that many of the pilots dislike.

My largest complaint about M+ is that a "Tablet based flight plan software" could of been so much more - instead, we basically have an App that cuts up the flight plan into many, many chunks and spreads it throughout the App, in no apparent fashion, while leaving out important parts of the HTML flight plan, and initially leaving out several important features (NOTAM filtering, crew rest, always in night mode).

For example, why can't it be a two-way app, where we see the fuel load, then we can request any additional fuel within the app? It could have implemented a Flight Family style chat within the app with the dispatcher. Instead, if we want to change the fuel load, we have to call or ACARS the dispatcher to be sure we make contract to change the fuel load.

Why can't we tap on a MEL and get taken to the MEL in Aerodocs? Seems obvious but not possible as far as I know.

One point, now when they say, "we're focused out IT resources on implementing the Contractual items for now" that really mean, no extra money for anything new. All the IT resources have been used up apparently - I wouldn't hold your breath for any new M+ features.

So I just came back from FAA Leave / Sick.

Was out 84 days.

Holy crap is this thing bad. And I'm in my 40s and fairly tech savvy. Can imagine how much the non techie 60+ crowd hates it.

I missed two kind of important notams because it was just so disjointed to read. (10L closed at PBI, approach min change at BOI)

I just went on John Bells website today and all off the shortcuts are far superior to the crap foisted on us.

...except it's not an improvement, as advertised. Try harder.

I disagree. It works well. You guys sound like my dad with his iPhone - How the hell do I work this thing? 18 pages worth of comments on Mission+??? Just use the damn thing consistently and you won’t even have to think about it.
