You wouldn’t want it to either. Imagine endless meetings full of people who find t actually want to be there.

Organization is oligarchy. Best not to lose sleep over it.
You are absolutely 100% spot on. And I don't lose any sleep over it. It has taken a long time for me to actually wake up as to the shenanigans that have probably been going on there for years. I get it. The vast majority of any group (as you point out) don't really want to be involved in the politics of the organization. It is doubly hard when we have so many commuters, and said organization refuses to use technology that is available to us in the form of webchats in order to get more involved. How many are willing to try to hopefully get on a full airplane to go to their base, attend a two hour meeting and then try again to get on yet another full airplane to go home... on a day off. For what? ALPA is eschewing available technology for a reason and that is that they don't WANT high level participation except to rubber stamp things.

Case in point: Is our MEC chair-"elect" an active pilot?

Change my mind.

Council 66 just sent another email. This time from TK. It throws MC under the bus for the MEC election. In part it reads of sour grapes on TK’s part, but the treasurer also casts a no confidence vote on MC.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much public MEC infighting especially in the same council. Not a good look for ALPA and not great to have a fractured MEC for our contact negotiations.

It reads like a cry-baby didn't get his way. He went on to say neither RA or KP were good choices and that he alone was the sole option that should have received all the votes.

The guy who voted down the covid LOA's and threw all the new guys under the bus for no reason is now upset that the "newer" mec reps didn't back him. Surprised...

Morons......truly. Let's wait until after section 6 to air dirty laundry. Good grief.

I'm assuming MC's vote was more a vote against C16. After seeing how the C16 chair writes as well as what I've heard from former MEC Committee Member's interactions with the C16 Chair, I support MC's decision

I find it hard to support voting against another MEC member instead of voting for your constituents.

It could be both. As an example, both the C16 chair and TK voted against 20-04, I’d be willing to bet a lot of NY FOs supported that LOA.

Good point. It is possible that those two ideas don’t have to be opposed to each other.
Either way council 66 looks very dysfunctional. MC voting against the TK, the MC email, the TK email. Its an embarrassing mess. At least it will be very easy for the new members to look good by comparison.

I agree it’s a mess. on top of that C1 put out a comm today that only adds fuel to the fire. Unfortunately I see a very divided MEC for awhile.

I don’t know enough about DH, and I’m not saying I would have voted for him, but if I were the NY FO rep, I would be leery of voting for someone who opposed a pretty popular LOA ( both pilot wide but specifically among junior pilots and commuters, which are an overwhelmingly majority of his constituents)

I loved the part where they said recall resolution is are on the agenda for those who voted for DH but not TK... as if they weren't instrumental in them getting on the agenda immediately after the election.
