Uncoupled and requires FPA mode so your situational awareness needs to be on point. Preflight on first flight of the day requires outside observer to clear wings for hydraulic check. Panel outside has to be opened to check potable water and can be painful to open/close in winter. I could go on but you get the point. To top that off many legs per day and not the most desirable overnights. But on the brightside, it's a hell of alot better than CRJ200 flying at the regionals.

717 Radar is decent. 737 Radar is world class even tho it's overzealous in Auto(Scary Mode)
No headrest? How do you sleep or prevent whiplash? I guess nice thing about being captain on 717 is you don’t have to do walk arounds anymore so who cares about checking the water. Sounds like fo problems.

Hands down 737. Boeing builds airplanes, Douglas builds character.

Id say about 90-something percent of CA's on the 717 grab the walk when it's your leg. But yea your right, you don't have to.

Same when I was an FO on the 737. Maybe it's base dependent though..

The biggest thing about the auto mode in the radar is it doesn't quite tell you the same thing as a normal radar. It adjusts for ride expectations and includes the storm deviation in the return, so you don't need to add buffer on your own. They don't do a good job explaining that imo.

Avoid the 717 because of this. Panel opening and closing is the most horrible thing I have ever done in aviation. This is a great reason not to bid it. Thanks Trip7…

Otherwise, some good points.

Haha. Is that what it’s doing when it calls me a retard? Only the first one is a verb, right?

It makes anyone and everyone into a jetliner pilot.

Seems lots of growth in routes on 350 and 330 announced today in townhall. Bright future … but still a lot of flying to our normal international hubs even more.
