I love it on the 717 and am ok with our more RJish days because it gives me other benefits. DYDD, if you switch you’ll be more than welcome here.
I enjoyed my time on the 717 and it pays well compared to the regionals, but man does that flying feel like the minors.

All you 2014-2019 hires stay away from the 717….don’t even look at the bid package! Go fly “real” Delta metal!

Exactly. I went to a legacy to get away from that.

With the 717 picking up all Chicago Midway flying later this year from DTW, what other outstations are likely to go mainline after the entire CRJ200 fleet gets parked later this year? Will this create a cascade effect?

Nice thing about working here is there’s something for everybody. You can never leave your time zone, or fly over to Tokyo.

The no red eyes is nice but I’m surprised at how tired I’ve been after multiple very early van times. I’ve routinely had late 3 early 4am van rides based off my central time zone that I live in and I’m pretty worn out after a day of 3-4 legs. Not complaining but do be aware that while block time is lower than other fleets there’s still some gotchas in there.

Hate to break it to you, but all the flying we do is "the minors..." At least with the 717, I stay in one time zone, almost never fly at night, and spend a lot more time in my own bed.

For the first 1.5 years on the 717, the only night flying I did was the early am takeoffs. One of the many reasons I stay on it is the lack of ridiculous reroutes and lack of redeyes/late night flying. I'll take AM flying over redeyes every time!

I’m on the fence. One two-day GS gets me to 90 hours on my current fleet. That’s equivalent to 69 hours as 717 captain on new contract rates. With 717 paying every trip as 5:15 ADG, I think it’s going to take the same amount of days to make the same amount of money. Plus my current fleet has lots of trips that start and/or end with DH to my commuter city. Maybe it’s not yet time for hockeypilot to upgrade. Just bumped up the percentage a couple more so if I get it, no regrets. Lol. If I lived in base, I think 717 is one of best kept secrets at this airline.

I just pulled my 7ER captain bids for a similar train of thought. Higher daily average with several DH options at my current seniority make upgrading a loss in daily pay. The longshot WB A is still in though.
