What, you think they won’t be given the exact same rules? Didn’t you know we negotiate for all work groups?

I see the company forcing upgrades in the near future. I just don’t see how we will be able to staff captains down the road when the golden ticket lies on the widebody fleet. I know a lot of people who will stay in the right seat of a widebody for many decades to come. Every single CA upgrade I’ve flown with told me that upgrading back to a NB was the worst decision they’ve ever made.
widebody B is already more senior than NB A??? That occurred like 4 AE’s ago

I mean NB A is damn near new hires

I could still see it happening with the growth in terms of deliveries, junior guys chasing the $ in upgrade, and then movements with retirements off A’s. Not every base but I don’t see this dramatic flip everyone thinks. I am in 3-4 year range and most of my friends here are eyeing A as they don’t want to be 80-100% range just to sit on a 330/350. Unless you want NYC. Especially west coast guys know seniority movement on WB is slow and don’t want to deal with it. This forum acts way too sure of bid predictions and they almost always are dead wrong.

yeah in a couple bases sure. Those pilots will take years to bid elsewhere though. So it’s not really indicative of the big picture of WB B like NB A

NYC 7ER A will most certainly not be flying with experienced FOs for some of their trips. While there are many very experienced FOs in NYC, there are also a plethora of newbies with 0 - 500 hours post OE on the jet. There is potential for a legal crew pairing where the two combined have less than 300 hours on the airplane and less than 18 months combined seniority with Delta.

I'm grasping at financial analysis based on education and experience. Piloting airplanes and developing real estate came long after a corporate career doing financial analysis on a 9 figure P&L.

The proper analysis is net cost to Delta inclusive of operational benefits compared to incremental cost of meals. Retail price of tickets is peripheral to the comparison.

Here is a random article from 2020 showing
Meal Costs from $4-$100. Without accessing Delta contracts, there is not an exact answer.
