Yea I agree. I think what I was getting at was more experience-based than moving over to be pretty junior in BES. Is it a good idea to take ER-A without any experience in such a category? Was talking to a guy that was flying with a probationary FO that elected to move over to NYC ER A on that last AE I believe, with only a few years of a domestic RJ back round (not minimizing or criticizing that back round at all, its 70% of my mine too when I came here, just stating the guys situation). I will admit I might posses a naive assumption that it is a good idea to see certain things from the right seat for a bit before you jumped over to A but that's just me I guess.

I don’t think it’s necessarily unsafe. Many pilots come here with thousands of hours of experience. And those who don’t will have the benefit of flying with experienced FOs.

Award results normally come out within a few days.

Projected training normally comes out a a few days to a few weeks after the award, depending on the size of the AE. The projected training will show your projected training and projected conversion.....did I foot stomp projected enough...it's as firm as warm jello.

Then each month the actual conversions will come out just prior to bidding. So for example around the end of Feb or first few days of March (before April bidding begins), the actual conversions for April will be published. I would say training has been plus or minus 1 month of the projected, but there has been times when the projected training from an AE causes the previous AE protected training to get updated too.

Did I say projected enough? Bottom line, don't plan a vacation of a lifetime based on the projected training list.

The Projected Training/Conversion Awards (key word projected) usually comes out a week and a half or so after the awards. But that isn't worth much as many here will tell you from painful experience.

Usually you know for sure by about 1 month out, but that isn't always the case either. I can't find the minimum right now but believe it's 2 weeks notice?

Any pilot hired at Delta is qualified for 7ERA. They not only will go thru a full school but also OE. There is a bevy of information in OE guides as well. Then there is also the Company pages for any unfamiliar airports. Then there’s also an FO to combine for the whole CRM thing. I always taught new Captains that you don’t have to know everything, but you need to know how to reach out to available resources to get the answer you need. Unless it’s a no time emergency, slow/stop the operation until you get what you need.

With that said, if you personally don’t think you’re ready, then by all means don’t bid it. However, there are plenty of Delta pilots capable and comfortable making the jump day 1.

Not sure where you're commuting from for a $150 round trip ticket these days (which without some sort of source seems extremely high for meals), but you're entitled to your opinion. I think you're grasping at straws re: PSC vs meals.

I would bet that PSC costs similar or even less than crew meals.

The majority of flights go out with seats open or non revs getting on (effectively 0 cost to positive space a pilot on these flights), the very few that end up bumping a passenger incur a cost, but a very marginal cost.

The cost of PSC from the Company perspective includes FAs. So whatever number you are thinking probably triple it. FAs already get crew meals so the extra cost for them was already paid for. I don’t agree with that line of thinking but that is how the Company saw it.

What will the FAs do when they see our new DH rules?

Probably be underwhelmed by them just like we will be.
