I see this going the other way… widebody FOs will be way more senior than NB captains. With the new pay raises, I don’t see how anyone would want to be a NB captain when you could be a widebody pilot. 100 times the work for a few extra bucks? No thank you. I see the company forcing upgrades in the near future. I just don’t see how we will be able to staff captains down the road when the golden ticket lies on the widebody fleet. I know a lot of people who will stay in the right seat of a widebody for many decades to come. Every single CA upgrade I’ve flown with told me that upgrading back to a NB was the worst decision they’ve ever made.

I hope you are right! This is just my guess based on what I hear flying the line. I just don’t see a big enough difference in pay between 320A and 330B to justify the extra work you’ll be doing on the 320. After the raise, 330Bs will be making $286 an hour. I bet for most people that’s plenty and it’s an easier lifestyle. Just my guess tho!

This right here should be deciding factor. If you cannot get rest on the WB, you're not going to like the international stuff. Yes, work load is a breeze compared to domestic NB (7ER included) stuff but if you can't rest when you're supposed to, it's going to suck.

Its nice to have options. Hopefully everyone figures out what is best for them and their families. It’s a good time to be here!

It's pretty much useless with the sporadic AE's we've been having. However, it was fairly useful back when we consistently had AE's every 1.5-2 months.

I guess I'll be the odd duck out and say it was one of the best things that's happened to me. This from a guy who swore he'd never leave the WB lol. I'm much better rested (staying with 1 time zone rocks) and I spend more nights in my own bed. Few things better than flying a trip where pay > TAFB lol. I'll admit that I've found myself fairly senior, which is certainly a factor, but my QOL has increased quite a bit. I only expect that it will get better if the contract language is right with the AIP. I certainly recommend to all my FO's to go try out the WB lifestyle though.

Many people are still evaluating this contract. Personally I’m going to hold on to my plane.
I rather have my seniority and control my schedule than be extremely junior somewhere.
With these Pay rates and the amount of green slips going out there’s no reason to panicked and take the upgrade.

I don’t believe they can but I’m just saying at some point they may have no choice! But then again, like others have said on here, if you can’t sleep on planes then wide bodies aren’t for you and if that’s the case then you might as well upgrade and that’ll solve the problem! Didn’t American make their pilots upgrade after so many years?
